I had the E. 1 out of 3 is almost right... It's amazing the way my ear works.. when i was trying to work out the chords I kind of made the way I hear the guitar on the CD change to fit the chords I was playing.. so it sounded exact to me! ignorance is bliss as everyone knows.. With that Emaj7 and A it sounds spot on and now i can hear just how far I was off. The way the ear hears things is very odd.. No wonder I can't tune my bloody guitar yet! I'm pretty sure i have Best Bits right... can you play that one? ps- as i type(3pm) guess which song came on the radio???.. "stars all seem to weep"... wooh! I love hearing beth songs on the radio... it's so much more satisying than hearing it from a CD because you know a whole national audience is being forced to listen to Beth! yippeeee "There's no point turning to some tarot-card wielding, chakra realigning, anti-oxidant-taking self-help guru to solve your existential angst, because they're not feeling fabulous either ... It was excellent! She wasn't very far away at all, and seemed very comfortable. She came on stage before she could officially play -- so while she waited she told some bad jokes (one about a penguin, can't really remember; a great-but-crude one about two women in a bar and a spittoon; and a third one I forget entirely) and answered some questions (about who makes her guitar -- ?; that she'll be touring on her own in the states in November -- hopefully Ireland too, cause I won't be in the states then). When she could finally start she launched into a great set -- her songs tend to be pretty moody / heart-rending, and it was even more acute live. What I remember (not exactly in order): Galaxy of Emptiness, Stolen Car, Central Reservation, Sugar Boy (dedicated to RAINN -- I hadn't picked up on the more literal interpretation of that song), one or two more. It was lovely -- standing in the grass 15 feet from a little stage, would have been nice if the sun weren't in our eyes, but made for lovely lighting. Beth in a t-shirt & wraparound skirt. Ironic/comforting the contrast between her songs and her cheery/bouncy mood. (Also between how close we were to her during her set, and that we were far enough away to see the performers as only an inch tall on the main stage). She was on stage during Sheryl Crow's set to (only really dance as far as I can tell) do the Who's 'Squezebox(?)', and for the finale with Sarah & all except the Pretenders doing 'Put a little love in your heart'. It was agreed by all within earshot that she was tremendously cute, especially dancing/bouncing during the group numbers. tim ------------------------------ End of trailer-park-digest V2 #131 **********************************
