I'm brand new to the list and I was so happy when the first message I received was about guitar chords - I'm a guitarist myself, although I've only been playing for a year now, and I love learning new Beth songs. I recently saw her in concert, and as I was front row I did a little finger watching :). And yes, I am a nerd and I wrote down some of the chords right there and then. The chords for Feel to Believe are mostly right - here's my version from what I saw her play. E, Emaj7, A, A7+9 as mentioned before, played with capo at the 2nd fret. Emaj7 is - --------- - --------- - --1----- - --1----- - --2----- - --------- and A7+9 is - --3----- - --2----- - --2----- - --2----- - --------- - --------- (this chord is played very briefly before the transition back to E) I'm sorry, but I haven't been able to work out the tricky picking part yet - it went way too fast and it was up on the 6th fret or something. If it's any consolation, Beth herself said before starting it, "I haven't been able to play this properly since we recorded it." And she messed up twice. So I feel better. :) ~~~Chelsea~~~ Peter wrote: E 022100 A something 002200 A something 7 002030 *after "I just don't believe in why" you could add a finger.. for 002230* ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jul 1999 17:44:45 +0100 From: jbromley@enterprise.net Subject: Re: "She Cries Your Name" single The B-sides of the first release were Tangent It's Not the Spotlight Safety Catalogue number - HVN 60 CD, first released 26th September 1996. Beth's earlier singles are being reissue in Australia as well. The only difference is that they come in thin jewel case and not digipak. I got mine last year for about $4.00 from a CD place in Athens, GA, and the B-sides are "Bullet" (which is really cool, though I haven't deciphered all the words yet), an older version of "Best Bit" (which isn't anywhere near as good as the version on the Best Bit EP), and "It's Not the Spotlight", which I also love. I don't know if this is just a US version or what; I asked the guy at the store, but he had absolutely no idea. It's from UK as well. You can find the lyrics to Bullet on my Beth Orton site: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/4449/lyrics_bsides_bullet.html As well as many other B Sides. They do a very nice interview and article about her, and you can find it here: http://www.towerrecords.com/pulse/99/july/coverstory/beth.asp Enjoy! - --Victoria ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jul 1999 16:28:12 +0100 From: Brian Leahy Subject: Beth plays Dublin? Thanks Brian. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jul 1999 10:33:19 -0700 (PDT) From: Bethany Davis Subject: y100 FEZtival...YAY!!!!! Ok, I could not be happier. I am finally going to get to see Beth perform. I'm going to the Y100 FEZtival and she's playing the sidestage. She won't be playing a full set, which sucks, but the very fact that I GET TO SEE HER PLAY has me jumping for joy. Is anyone else going? Just curious... BTW, thanks to those who have been working out the chords for "Feel to Beleive". It's my favorite Beth Orton song and I have been dying to know how to play it. I saw her play it live and she does it with a capo on the second fret. I think it sounds better if you play it in G and tune it down a half step, which is how I first figured it out. I'll post it on my site today: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palms/6835/beth/ Thanks for the She Cries Your Name b-sides, I picked the CD up today :) It's great. - ---Leah ------------------------------ End of trailer-park-digest V2 #130 **********************************
