Guess which song came on the radio? "Couldn't Cause Me Harm". This is the third time i've heard it in the past fortnight or so... twice in the morning, once in the afternoon. It was Triple J radio. Which is national over Australia... They had played "Stolen Car" a lot ... and when the album was released I heard "Stars all seem to weep", "Pass In Time", and the then again version of "Central Reservation" at various times .. So Triple J has given her reasonable airplay. Which I'm sure Beth would appreciate. Triple J regularly give album tracks a play... but i've heard "Couldn't Cause Me Harm" three times.. (wish they'd play it 3 times a day, and 12 times again *ha! got that song on my brain*) so i'm getting the idea it could be the next single after "stolen car"? is it? ps- the other oz-based people on this list may be able to tell me if they have heard beth on commercial airwaves?? I strongly doubt she would rate a mention on commercial radio airwaves, you know, because she is talented... be interested to know though, considering I wouldn't torture myself with commerical radio if you payed me. Also be interested to know if Beth has charted with record sales in Australia yet? she has a fairly low profile...and seems to only exist in "alternative" circles. which is odd... I have a friend in New Zealand and he says that she is doing reasonably well there as well. BUT in Singapore, Stolen Car was "trashed". You see, in Singapore, we have only ONE popular music radio station that play current hits. They has a "Flash, Trash Friday" programme where they featured a song on radio and let listener call in to express their views. 5 listeners wre allowed each time. And Stolen Car was trashed 5 times by these listeners. Only songs with at least 3 Flashes were allowed to enjoy frequent airplay. Crappy system but what to do. Sigh... sigh.... sigh... I've heard "She Cries Your Name" in Denny's, which is a large, bland chain of bad restaurants, but the fact that the song plays there bespeaks something about the song being well-known on the American airwaves... I remember reading something as well about Beth receiving "all-important radio airplay" in Spin or Rolling Stone or one of those... so I guess the stations are digging her. At least in America.
