Thought I'd introduce myself to the group. I'm Claire and I live in Scotland, near Glasgow to be exact. Huge, Humungous some may say, Beth Fan. What I'd give to meet that woman. Very sad to hear no appearance is to be made at the Cambridge Folk festival this year by the beauty the call Beth. Any info, would be really well appreciated, as to appearances in future or new releases etc. She's quite a dark horse. If you'd all care to say a small hello in return, then I'd know who I'm speaking to, and would be very grateful. Anyway, for now..Keep smiling, and take care, Claire xx _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 May 2001 10:43:10 -0700 (PDT) From: Jedidiah Smith Subject: re: Terry Callier The New Folk Sound of Terry Callier is indeed an incredible album. I bought my copy from www.dustygroove.com, but that was awhile ago and I couldn't tell you if they still have it or not. If you want to hear what it sounds like, I would recommend going someplace like cdnow.com and listening to the audio clips from Live From Mother Blues 1964. It's a concert from before New Folk Sound came out, but it has the same lineup of musicians and the same distinctive sound (guitarist, two bass players) and it has a couple of songs that are on New Folk Sound. It's also a lot easier to find, I've seen it at Best Buy before. I've seen used vinyl copies of New Folk Sound every now and then but they usually run around $150 or so. Anyway, that's all I have to say, if anyone wants more info about New Folk Sound or something feel free to email me. On another non-Beth note, I had the pleasure of seeing Badly Drawn Boy in Atlanta last night, and if he doesn't put on the best show of any artist I've ever seen, except for maybe The Who or Bob Dylan, I don't know who does. Go see him if you get the chance! Jedidiah Yahoo!
