I promptly went out and bought both of them without hearing them first. Carson's album became my instant fave but Orton's not so much. I mean, it was okay, but it didn't REALLY turn me on. I liked "She Cries Your Name" a lot, especially after seeing the video on MTV's 120 Minutes. Then about a year later, I visited a friend in NYC who was reviewing Beth's show at Irving Park for, I think, the NYU student newspaper. SO I was able to see Beth's show for free. It was AMAZING. Beth even came in before her set, through the audience, she had obviously been doing a little shopping. She signed a few autographs and gave a few hugs and then went backstage to get ready. I was amazed by her performance. Suddenly, songs like "Sugar Boy," "Touch Me With Your Love," and "Live As You Dream" all came alive for me. I had never really heard the lyrics before. Well, rather, I had not paid attention to them. After the show, I fell in love with the message of "Sugar Boy" and the intensity of Beth's delivery. I'd have to say that now, I love Beth more because of seeing her perform live. I am totally in love with "Feel To Believe." It's far and away my favourite song on _Central Reservation_. peace cbt ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 May 2000 16:18:00 -0500 From: dana wagner Subject: Re: Beth Discoveries >I'd have to say that now, I love Beth more because of seeing her perform live. i pretty much had the same reaction. although i liked her stuff before i saw her live, it was the show that just mesmerized and hooked me. many artists i find have an incredible raw beauty in their live performances that just isn't captured on an album with all sorts of production and everything. >I am totally in love with "Feel To Believe." yeah, i feel the same way. every time i listen i love it more and more. :) dana ------------------------------ End of trailer-park-digest V1 #82 *********************************
