One of the appealing qualities about the zippers in the past is that they have a southern raw almost dirty sound, with a lot of soul, i'm sorry but the revamped zippers don't sound like they have any soul, it's almost like they are just doing this cd to appease Mammoth and their contract. i don't know, it's weird, all i have to say is i think "Samsara" is light years better. I may not make many friends saying that, but that's what i feel. joshua _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. When I said refined, I meant rehearsed. Very much so. Though, I will say, I do enjoy some of it. Bed bugs is a lot of fun. It All Depends is a cool song for Kat. But Tom added so much lyrically, musically, and just in presence. I also may not make any friends by saying this, but this "new" group has to be looked at as a separate entity. Consider it a debut album, and you've got a nice, peculiar, fun record on your hands. Consider it a sign of the times, and it is perhaps the most depressing thing you can listen to. Just keep your chins up that Tom and the Minor Drag will have their new record out in March. I feel we get the both of best worlds. Jimbo is doing what he wants, and we are getting it in (sorta) Zipper format. Tom is making the music he wants with Ken, and they are giving it to us a la the old Zippers. So we get something old and something new. Just my view on it, Mike ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Oct 2000 18:23:36 -0700 (PDT) From: Shaun Smakal Subject: Re: Bedlam Ballroom vs. Samsara That leaves us to find something borrowed and something blue... Maybe we should borrow the cd before committing to buy it cause we may get the blues? I'm looking forward to having an opininion.
