The eccentric sex scene in the Red Violin is a vital part of the film and wasn't implemented to sell the movie. The filmmakers made the scene to show the passion of the violin and not to sell it - of course, in my opinion. It's sort of like the sex scenes in Breaking the Waves, Angel at My Table, and Jude. It was vital to the plot of the movie. I guess it depends on ones point of view. However, I think Samuel Jackson's character was very badlly portrayed. That was the booish part of the movie. Now for something completely different, when is the SNZ on Sesame being re-aired? Must tape show.
