Unknown to Disney executives, who gave a green light to the production, Faires had made his own contract with the band before the label's purchase was complete that strictly limited Disney's use of the material. Said Maxwell: "We tried to limit Disney's ability to exploit it - we didn't want to end up on Burger King cups - and Disney didn't know the extent to which we and Mammoth went in the contract." The Zippers' video of "Under the Sea," directed by Maxwell, was shot on 35mm film and featured a King and I motif of costume and dance. Disney never used it. "We spent $80,000 on it and it's sitting in my closet," says Maxwell, recalling that the Zippers also recorded a tune for a new Saturday morning Mickey Mouse cartoon that was also never used. Maxwell added that the Zippers had virtually no direct contact with the company while he was in the band - only Faires and other Mammoth executives talked to Disney."
