I went on a spur-of-the-moment trip to NC and it was pretty eventful, personally. in the SNZ realm of things, i saw the Countdown Quartet (they keep running into me when i'm there!) ;) last friday and they were HOT. The lineup was: David Wright (trombone) (also in SNZ) Tim Smith (sax) (also in SNZ) Ted Zarras (drums) (not in SNZ) The blonde bass player (bass) (not in SNZ) Jim Mathus (guitar) (also in SNZ) Je Widenhouse (trumpet) (also in SNZ) so it was 2/3 Zippers! Very strange. What was even weirder is that little Je has shaved his moustache and is nearly unrecognizable now. Remember when he had spiked hair and a huge moustache? heh, no more! You will know it's Je when you see him, tho, by the funny way he holds his trumpet when he plays. Je was exceptionally good at this show. he stood right up front with David and played equally as much as he did (and David is the lead player in the band). He obviously was not just "sitting in", but had practiced the songs. he's sounding great. he even sang backups on a few songs! i'm awfully confused on the future of SNZ and Countdown as two seperate entities. I mean, drop Chris and Stu, add Kat and reese...you've got a full band of Zippers! eep. anyway, they were cool. check out their CD on www.redeyeusa.com Hope everyone survived Y2k Jess PS apparently the guy at the instrument shop where Jim gets his guitar fixed was wrong when he said SNZ wouldn't be playing the Seattle New Year's gig.
