He doesn't look quite 19 anymore because he's been going through some changes and it's wearing him out a bit, and he's lost a lot of weight (well he's always been skinny). When i first saw him, he was 18 and i swear to god he looked about 15. But i am SERIOUS when i say he is 19. REESE GRAY IS NINETEEN!!! okay? If they are annoying you with non-zipper stuff, let me know and they can take it to personal email. I was going to ask them to take it to personal email, but personally i am enjoying reading their arguments. but i don't want to lose any list members who are sick of hearing it...and who knows, it just might spark some discussion in these long months we have coming up with no SNZ activity... So, let me know, EMAIL ME PRIVATELY (so we don't start a discussion about the discussion on the list. that would piss me off) if you feel strongly either way. then again, they may be done with it already :) Jess *********************************************************** * --+-READ THE SHRUBBERY-+-- * http://www.theshrubbery.com --New Every Month- -Humor, Music, News and More-- *********************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Dec 1999 15:15:05 -0800 (PST) From: Andrea Gutierrez Subject: Re: The Bowl of Fire in Montreal > go to cdnow... > or amazon > or any other of the tons of on-line stores > everybody's doin it... They are so full of energy and they don't make the show look like it is routine. I've seen way too many shows where you could tell that the band is just doing the routine. That totally turns me off... Also, my friends and I thought Bird was pretty chatty. I guess it's all relative. We are low key, hence, most people would appear to be chatty in comparision to us. Were there a lot of people at the NYC/New Jersey shows? Also I've seen this in a lot of emails ......^g^........I think that is how it is made. What is that? I always thought it was George's signature then I saw it in other emails....I'm not up to par on my Internet lingo. Theresa. >Saw Mr. Bird last night. Boy oh Boy was he in top form. Great show, great >show, great show. I hope he comes around to Hoboken more often. >I had the flu... and I forgot I was sick. Insane! >I heard that Bird was shy... but jeeeez... he really is SHY. I got his >autograph on that zany poster with the drawing of him with his neck broken, >slammed on the floor with the violin flying in the air. >I also got a copy of Q6 - that is great stuff! I'm normally a fairly good communicator, but on the subject of music words usually fail me miserably and my activity on this list has been no exception. It's hard to try and explain that for me SNZ is not "just another cool band". It's part of an awakening for me in mid-life, and maybe my "old fart" status is part of my communication problem. Dunno, but suffice it to say, virtually everything I've ever posted here on the subject has been at best ignored and at worst completely misunderstood. I accept the blame for this, along with the frustration... but I don't really have a solution. I've been fortunate not only to have discovered SNZ in 1997, but to have seen them live (twice), gotten to meet most of the band members and even formed a friendship with one of them. My ongoing re-involvement with music, however successful it might be, is a direct result of a sequence of events that began on May 17, 1997 (3 months before I first heard HELL on the radio). I knew even at that moment that in many ways, my life would not be the same again. On most any subject I'd be inclined to stand and fight, not only for the subject at hand but for my right to stand for it. But this is not my list, first of all, and more importantly the subject matter is too close to the heart to be out there taking a beating... or giving one. I don't expect any of this makes any more sense than anything else I've said, all I can suggest is maybe file it away for 20-odd years and read over it again and see if it makes any sense then. I intend to do the same. I want to thank Jess for starting this list and keeping it going for over a year now, after my own attempt to start an SNZ list never really got off the ground. If anyone wishes to contact me private email is welcome. Keep on Swingin'....
