Though, I do tend to skip over "Some Born Singing." Just not my type of music. I got this from Tom (regarding a request for permission to play the album on my radio show on campus): "Mike-- It would be great if you played "Samsara" on the radio. Especially in such august company! I appreciate the support and think this thing would hold up over the airwaves. Good luck with the pilot. Tom" The company would be his Chapel Hill and near area friends Ben Folds Five, Cigar Store Indians, BOF (though not from CH) Katherine's Jazz Squad, Knockdown Society, the Zippers along with a blend of old music like Louis Prima, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis, Jr. and of course, Tom's favorite, Fats Waller. - -Mike ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Dec 1999 12:11:17 EST From: BlowRedBlow@aol.com Subject: Re: two things Wasn't the new album slated for April 18th?? that's what the mammoth site said for a bit.. that's quite a ways off. Laura, he was only in the Broadway production of it. My friend and I took a special trip out to NYC to see him in it. Boy oh boy was he good. Very sexy. He touched my friend by accident! He apologized -- "Oh my, I'm so sorry." He's so cute in Cabaret! I love it. I actually have an autographed picture of him. I always thought I was the only one who thought he was cute in Circle of Friends....boy was I wrong! He's slimy in a very, very cute sort of way. He's in Julie Taymor's "Titus Andronicous" coming out in January. Speaking of movies and to tie this email in with Squirrel Nut Zippers/BOF, there is a great interview with Tim Robbins in Interview magazine - the one with Christina Ricci on the cover. He's talking about Cradle Will Rock, which, has been getting some good reviews. And, for you rock fans out there, pick up the latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine. Although I hate the magazine, this week's is quite good. There's a picture of Shane McGowan, that should be enough to suit anybody's fancy. Oh yes, and Elvis Costello too. Also, for you Louie Prima fans, there is a kick arse article in this month's Vanity Fair about him and Keely. Really, really, really good.
