It was depressing. Katherine and Jimbo look grand - one of the best pics ive seen of them. They are standing to the left, with Katherine looking like the matriarch of the whole show. She has come into her own... Chris is shoved away in the back... If you cover everyone but jimbo and katharine, you half expect everyone to be in sports jackets or chinese coats - the old Zipper aesthetic of BEING DRESSED UP. Now they're going fishing. Thats what I always loved about the Zippers. Even in a bloody NC forrest, with swamp and muck all around them, they would be in their sunday best. It didnt fit in with the surroundings.... just like the music. Maybe im being a jerk and not giving the newbies a chance... but Im one of those fans that wishes they had held onto Duke Heighter and that Don Raleigh had worked out his problems and stayed. Hey at least Tom hooked up with Duke again. TBQH, I don't know what the "new" Zippers are going to sound like but I know what "Tom & Friends" sound like and its awesome!! I'd almost prefer to see Jim & Kat stick to their own sound instead of trying to find a replacement-at-large for Tom & Ken. What they injected into the band can't be replaced or replicated (can you imagine someone else doing HELL?). Anyway, I'll reserve judgement until I hear what they do together -- I have thoroughly enjoyed J&K's solo stuff so far, and Samsara is just a drop-dead awesome record. Anybody try to play the changes on "Caveat Emptor" yet? I spent over an hour just getting the tenor sax lick... sounds simple but really throws you for a loop. Weeellllllllllllllllllll.... there's an old saying that says "anything that can be accomplished by a skilled programmer in a week can easily be accomplished by a team of skilled programmers in a year" :-) Smart guy who said that... no wait, I think it was me!! Seriously, IF there is the interest, this is a one evening project that will be done before we even exchange concepts. Chat programs IMO don't need to do much, the tricky part is the interface and if we use telnet that part is totally solved. What I DO need from others on the list is to try the telnet command, here it is again: telnet hhcustom.hhcustom.com - from your RUN box in Windows, or any other place you can run it from in another operating system. I need you all to make sure you can pop a login on my server from where you're at, or this isn't worth bothering with. So far no one has reported one way or the other. Like I said, WebTV and Juno users probably can't do it; Hotmail I'm not sure about. Y'all need to try it, takes two seconds, drop me a private mail and let me know. You'll just get a login prompt - don't bother trying to log in, I just need to know you can get there. I'll create a special login when we're ready to do this, IF we do it.
