Hotmail I'm not sure about - never used it so I dunno if it's a If it's an HTML chat, It will work as long as someone has a connection to the internet, so WebTV should work. Hotmail is an HTML email, and not like Juno, so those folks should be all set as well. > dial-up mail-only ite like Juno or if it's a real service with web access. > I doubt if telnet would work with Juno either... *if* your only access is > Juno. Juno, as thr FREE e-mail, would not work, it just dials, downloads email, sends, and disconnects... honestly... I've tried to play with telnet and juno (and failed) :) So that wouldn''t work. However, Juno does have a Juno Web access, but that's not free. Pretty much the bottom line is, if you have web access, i.e. you can browse the internet, you should have no problem with an HTML chat. Perhaps we should check this one out. I've experience in the past with HTML browsers, and they work on a "refresh every so often" basis either by the user, or the p;age does it itself. This may make archiving difficult. However, i still believe we should check it out. ttfn, Dan http://welcome.to/blufish ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Nov 1999 09:38:15 -0500 (EST) From: Daniel F Jarvis Subject: Re: chat (writing a program?!?!?!) > I can write a chat program (with archiving) and be ready next time we >want to do this... >... > Transcripting is also automatic. > Andy Sounds awesome Andy! I, being a computer science major, loving programming, had an intrest sparked by your mention of writing a program for this. Think you'd like to colaberate? Maybe if anyone else is computer oriented enough, they could work on it as well... My experiences so far are mostly in DOS programing, but I'm learning JAVA now (I don't like it). I can write pretty darned well in PASCAL, and I can do a little with C/C++ (a little more if given time). I just think it'd be cool to make this a group effort. What do you think? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Nov 1999 09:45:36 -0500 (EST) From: Daniel F Jarvis Subject: Re: chat (writing a program?!?!?!?! again) Sorry about this... I'm a goof, and think i forgot to sign that e-mail about programming colaberation, blah blah blah. So here ya go. :) I would have went back and checked on my sent message, but I'm using PINE as my e-mail client... running it through Telnet, woohoo! Yea Telnet! Anyway, bye now.
