Well, Em and I came up with a new scheme to get new Landing users. We went out and FOUND them! I want to welcome all the new users we got today (6 new users from 4 pm to 9 pm est) and everyone who hops on in the middle here. I'll try to update the archives as soon as possible so everyone knows what's been going on here lately... Some recent topics have been: 1. Why this list sucks ;) 2. Andrew Bird and his Bowl of Fire concerts (we like concert descriptions!) 3. Katherine Whalen's Jazz Squad concerts 4. other good bands to listen to 5. good jazz stuff on tv 6. kevin o'donnell's "heretic blues" 7. and of COURSE...the lawsuit! there's lots of knowledgeable (and friendly!) people here and hopefully there will be even more knowledgeable and friendly people around... So i will start off with a silly "mixer" type thing... 1. Name: Jessica Brandt 2. nicknames: Jess, Meesha, ZipperJJ 3. Location: Macedonia, Ohio (near cleveland and akron) 4. have you seen snz live?: yeah! greatest show on earth! 5. website(s): www.theshrubbery.com (not SNZ-related) www.personal.kent.edu/~jbrandt (all SNZ-related!) 6. other favorite bands: Ben Folds Five, The Beatles, Barenaked Ladies, Rufus Wainwright,Pearl Jam, dead milkmen, mustard plug...etc. 7. If i could rename the band, i'd rename them: just "The Zippers" 8. Zipper I'd most like to be stuck in an elevator with: Tom. We would never get bored, he has too much to say. 9. Zipper who's job i'd most like to have: Chris, so i could bang a gong. 10. Prettiest male Zipper in a dress?: hmm... Chris. i imagine he has nice legs... okay everyone have fun! SOmeone tell me, I'm losing my mind here. >> oh no, hasn't this been figured out yet? Shorty Brown is clearly seen in the interactive part of the "Hot" ECD & there is copy regarding him in the Perennial CD's interactive book which I blacked out but there is a way to make those black squares go away & bring up a picture of Shorty. so, if this is still a mystery I guess it may have to stay that way.... hmm.... clay ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jun 99 19:34:37 -0800 (PST) From: Shaun Smakal Subject: Sorry to disappoint! I'm not technically a new user. I just took advantage of the new e-mail thing from the Shrubbery! Yes, smakal@theshrubbery.com kicks far more @$$ than aol or hotmail! About the whole Darrin Jesse/Magic/Stacy Guess thing: WOW! It actually sounds different now... I know I keep sayin this but... Anybody seen 'Immortal' yet? Anyone form Chapell Hill? The triangle? The Zippers ARE in the movie (the voices in my head (and the one in my right foot) told me so)! Favorite zipper in a dress: Ken. But only with the afro/frizzy/punk hair from Clutch Cargo's in Pontiac, MI. If I could rename the band: Squirrel Nut Zippers: Kickers' of Southern Style Nuts. == Impetus (im'-pa-tas) [L. attack] n. the force with which a body moves; momentum; boost. _____________________________________________________________ Subject: Re: DEPRESSION - PASILLO. Hey, I've heard a lot of those. Know what the one thing that would please me more than finally seeing the Zippers in 'Immortal'? The Zippers doin' Loius' "Kiss to Build a Dream On." Now ya really can't touch the likes of Loius or many of the late greats but to hear the Zipper's put themselves into this song--particularily Kat doin vocals (some might disagree about a female singing this one)--would make all the poop that's been happening this last month just melt away... Loius' "KTBADO" is a most remarkable musical experience, Shaun == Impetus (im'-pa-tas) [L. attack] n. the force with which a body moves; momentum; boost. _____________________________________________________________ Get email for your site ---> http://www.everyone.net ------------------------------ End of the-landing-digest V2 #140 *********************************
