Hmm...good question, but too late. I just got off the phone with Ken and the interview was super. I didn't get to talk to Tom, but we decided to wait till the album comes out, in August. The interview went really well. we talked for about an hour and a half (oh ken's dime. bless him!) and I'm typing out about 90% of it (except some of the hush-hush stuff about the lawsuit) so you can read it when the new Shrubbery goes up! As for your question, Bob, I suggest posting that to the guestbook on www.snzippers.com I lookd up "Shorty Brown" on altavista, and I came up with lots of links to Gulf Coast Mustang clubs. Jim owns a mustang (car)....maybe he bought it from Mr. Brown and wanted to use his name to copyright his music :) Jess *********************************************************** * --+-READ THE SHRUBBERY-+-- * http://www.theshrubbery.com --New Every Month- -Humor, Music, News and More-- *********************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 May 1999 07:20:55 -0500 From: Jessica Brandt Subject: interview snippet Hey....this interview is way too long, so i'm cutting it down. a lot. Don't worry, i'll put the uncut version on The Landing website. BUT, there's even more I can't put in there, but i thought you all would find this funny, so here's a little story about Je: KEN: The last tour we were on, I went on the bus and our tour manager was yelling at Je. Something had to be wrong, because no one yells at Je. He's like "Je, you can't expect me to hold on to all this peanut butter." "well, I just want to take it home' cuz I can stockpile it and keep eatin' it." When we're on the bus, there's no room at all. He has a whole drawer and we'd been to 14 shows, and there's 14 jars of peanut butter in this drawer, and our tour manager's shit is all over the floor. He was like "Je, how much are these jars of peanut butter worth?" "thirty bucks?" "I'll give you thirty bucks for the drawer." "that's not the point!" "it is the point! Throw it out!" "I can't waste it!" "well I'll waste it, here's the $30!" ME: I heard Je's the hippy of the group. KEN: well I think I'm the hippy of thr group. Je's the spaceman. Well that's all. hope that image brought a smile to your faces! I got my copy of Jazz Squad today. I just got home so I haven't had time to listen to it yet, although the pictures inside are really good. You don't have to order it, I called my local boarders yesterday and they said they have had them in for a while, but just couldn't sell them. When I went there today I only saw about 4 copies. I don't know if thats good or bad because I didn't see how many were put out. All of the Dirty Dozen's BUCK JUMP were gone. Has anybody heard the Lincon Center Jazz Orchestra's tribute cd for Duke Ellington???? It's really good! that band really does duke some justice. For anybody who has never heard duke before, I don't know what your waiting for. Duke has some of the most powerful and motivational music ever. Some of my favorite songs are: Black and Tan Fantasy, C jam Blues, Mood Indigo, Happy go lucky, East St. Louis Toodle-oo, Caravan, etc.... _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
