"Immortal is a 35mm independent genre?? film written, produced, directed and edited by the first time filmakers Walt Bost and Steven D. White in and around Chapel Hill, NC during the summer of 1994." I think its about vampires or something. The CD has capsiz 7, dilon fence, june, psycho sonic cindi, reverb-a-ray, dexter romweber, SEX POLICE, SQUIRREL NUT ZIPPERS, the trout band, vertigo joyride, and greg humphries!!!!! All Chapel Hill. All the time! SNZ does a live version of Danny Diamond! It was recorded at the Cats Cradle. I have it and you don't!!! I know you're jealous now!!! HEH,eheheheheeheh!!! Soon the animated video will be coming out and I've been sorta curious as to what the animation style will be. Is this concert poster perhaps a hint as to the look of the characters? Hmmm.. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=73447638 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Mar 1999 15:42:06 EST From: ProfPlum97@aol.com Subject: Re: animation I don't think so. Those are characters from Mega Man. I think I read somewhere that they were going to use a style like the trippy Felix the Cat. Kind of an animated R. Crumb maybe? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Mar 1999 16:52:24 +0000 From: "SHAUN SMAKAL" Subject: Immortal: the reprise! The movie was made in '94 so SNZ's still gots Don on the bass and Stacy on the horn. Also Je's still with the Sex Pistols doin the song Ear to Ear. The covers got a lot of pictures about of all the bands and scenes from the movie. Steve and Walt thank Mammoth Records too. The cast photo has a bunch of people I swear I've seen on campus before. "If you were to walk through Chapel Hill on any given night you could hear many different sounds coming from everywhere--the street, bars, rock clubs, cafes--everywhere. Everything from lounge music [SNZ??] and the frat bands to indie college hype scenester rock. Mnay of the folks you see in a band on a friday night will be playing with a different band on saturday night. The music from Immortal will give you a small sample of what you might find around town." Cool. Because it was sponsored, it was a free show, and by far the best concert I have seen this year. Although, I may see two Ben Folds Five shows this spring, and hopefully he won't disappoint. Just a side note. Andrew Bird has got to be the most apathetic musician I have ever seen. Don't get me wrong, the music was amazing, but he just seemed very selfish in the way he played and he wouldn't even come back out for an encore. I also thought it was interesting that he basically just played his album straight through, almost in its exact order. And I'm guessing that the crowd was one of his most enthusiastic ever, considering about 3/4 of the 100 people there were on the floor dancing. When are artists going to learn that they won't gain fan base if they don't suck up? Matt ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 04 Mar 1999 03:44:34 -0500 From: Jessica Brandt Subject: page update hey, as of right now i am 90% done with this week's update of Passed Out on the Landing. By the time most of you get this message, it'll be ready. New this time is a little bit of new info on the Andrew Bird page, as well as 3 albums on which Andrew appears in The Store. Also, I'm unleashing the SNZ media-intensive part of my page. I haven't by any means founc every SNZ link there is, but i've got a bunch of them. Also on the SNZ page are pictures from some December shows, courtesy of Ryan Sargent, and that long-ass Swing Time article/interview with Tom. It's REALLY interesting. Tom sounds like a music professor. He blows me away! I hope y'all read it. here's the URL for Passed Out on the Landing: http://members.xoom.com/ZipperJJ Coming soon: Don't forget March 14th I am having a "listening party" for the SNZ show on liveconcerts.com. I'm opening up my chat room for everyone to get together as we listen. More info on that in the coming week (working the room, signing up, etc) But don't worry if you miss it, liveconcerts.com archives their concerts. Then again, you never know who might show up in the room... Also coming up are mosre transcriptions of articles and pictures scanned from magazines (most notably, when SNZ was on the cover of Alternative Press and Tom/Stu/Ken's way-cool interview in SPIn not too long ago.) My SNZ live CD is in the "production stage" right now. It should be back in my hands by next wednesday. More on this later. Here's a little tip, tho. I suggest y'all start studying up on your SNZ facts if you want a copy... If anyone has any SNZ articles that they could transcribe, or send to me for transcriptions, or that I can find to transcribe (LIKE when they were on the cover of CMJ and i somehow have LOST that issue and I could just die about it...) please please let me know. I am willing and able to blow off all my real work to transcribe SNZ articles. Uhmmmm....Je's real name is Jerome. I didn't know that. I don't know what the hell i thought his real name was, but i don't think Jerome crossed my mind. So now you all know that i'm an idiot. Okay I hope you all drop by The Landing website soon. Did you know that it's not on any search engines, and there aren't any links to it that I know of? that means that right now, it's exclusively a website for y'all. Isn't that neat-o? Well i guess not really. If anyone wants to put a link to my page on theirs, i'd appreciate it. And yes, someday I will get around to submiting it to engines. That is all. Listen to A Tribe Called Quest. They ROCK.
