On the SNZ official page it said that je and ken (or tom) did horns for hobex and sugarsmack. Has anyone heard these albums?? if so, does je do any solo stuff???? ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 03 Feb 1999 18:09:16 -0500 From: Jessica Brandt Subject: a lil' story This is something that happened to me today, which is kind of cute...and something that would probably happen to Emily (or at least something she would notice): I was driving down the highway after school in an absolute daze. Had to go to the music store in Akron. Anyway, in my stupor, I had totally gone the wrong way. I didn't notice, as I was merrily whistling along to an SNZ tape and secretly brooding about school. Anyway, The song "Lover's Lane" came on and i was really digging it, when suddenly i looked up and saw an exit marked "Lover's Lane/Cole Ave." and was really taken aback by the coincidence...even tho the track I was listening to was Don Raleigh on bass and not Stu Cole....but anyway, I took it as a sign from God (or Tom..one can never be too sure) and realized how completely out of the way I was, and got off on Lover's Lane and backtracked to my destination. So, that's a stupid little story but it sort of brightened my otherwise crappy day. And Ryan: Courtney plays some really geat stuff, like old old swing and jazz, new swing and jazz, and cool stuff like Ben Folds Five and Beck :) Jess *********************************************************** * --+-READ THE SHRUBBERY-+-- * http://www.theshrubbery.prohosting.com --New Every Month- -Humor, Music, News and More-- *********************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 03 Feb 1999 22:06:10 -0500 From: Peter Destructo Subject: Re: Zippers Concert - 9/17/98 Bogart's/Cincinnati Andy Harman wrote: > Ghost of Stephen Foster - They are doing an *animated* video of this!! > They read my mind... Yeah, I saw that in my mind when I first bought PF too. I see it as either stop-motion animation (claymation) or a smooth computerized video, with subdued, Polish/Russian ghetto color tones. I don't think it is (claymation, that is) though. > The Zippers are on break for a few weeks but pick up 10/17 at Radio City > Music Hall in New York... Evil! Evil evil! Evil Cablevision! While visiting L.A. last spring - which I get to do about once a year, I was listening to a local station that seemed to be playing a decent mix of old and new stuff. They played CSN's "Ventura Highway" as I was southbound on the 405, and I looked up and there was the sign for "Ventura Freeway". About 45 minutes later, I was cruising down Santa Monica Blvd. toward Beverly Hills and what should they play but Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do" which of course contains the line, "... till the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard" But this pales in comparison to something that happened to me about 18 years ago. I was on my way to work in morning rush hour, with my styrofoam coffee and the radio off. While cruising down the interstate in stop n' go traffic, the thought kept coming into my head "Mister Mojo Risin'..." kept singing that line over and over, couldn't get it out of my head...finally got sick of it and punched the radio button on... yep, you guessed it... L.A. Woman, in that *exact* spot in the song! BTW I listened to about the first hour of Courtney's show on RealAudio last night... sound was pretty good over my 64K line, only an occasional drop-out. Very cool stuff... she played "Club Limbo" and then later on, this really bizzare thing "Very Stylish Girl" -- man, that thing has been running around in my head all day. I need to find the CD.
