The room did quiet down for Stevie Wonder. Gotta love this guy. In other non-news, there are 2 albums that I have never played with others around without getting "what IS this?" and sometime later "let's hear it again". The magic two: Thrills and an obscure little pop album, from Moonpools and Caterpillars, Lucky Dumpling. Just came back from a road trip and it worked again (doomed now, no doubt). Hey Andy, Help me out here, brother: what? ~D. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Feb 1999 12:39:19 PST From: "Ryan Sargent" Subject: Re: SNZ >Check the official SNZ page for alleged info on solo work. It's not even ready for pre-sale free copies! Andrew and Mike "Nappy" are still in New Orleans, obviously trying to wrap up the new album. Make yourself happy and buy his old album (before thrills) at the address you can find on this page: http://members.xoom.com/ZipperJJ/bird/bird.html Jim is most likely going to make an appearance on the album. Je is takin' it easy at home. Sorry Aaron, he's married...;) My BFF people tell me that the album is done, and Ben is back and forth from NY mixing it. Why wasn't it done in their house this time? Because "corporate magazines still suck" (wait a minute...that was irrelevant) Anyhow, soon soon soon....okay, in late spring at least....my two worlds will once again collide when horns of SNZ appear on the BFF album. So that's all for now. As SOON as there is any info on the new albums, you will undoubtedly hear it here FIRST. i SWEAR. boy, get that stockin' out of your mouth! Thanks Jess For rocking Hard, =Je son= (going back to the old name) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Feb 1999 20:02:38 PST From: "Ryan Sargent" Subject: concerts. Since I was reading that long post about the SNZ show, it made me think of my SNZ shows. My first show was on halloween at the 9:30 club in D.C. SNZ was paying with Andrew Bird and a Blues musicain. I loved SNZ but had never heard of Andrew, so I didnt know any of his songs.(now i'm a huge fan) The show was great, but we had to go as soon as the show was over.(so no autographs) About a month later my parents gave me an early x-mas gift...an SNZ road trip!!!! I had managed to get some photo passes for the first show. First we drove from Maryland to Asheville NC to see SNZ with Cigar store indians. When we got there we ran into a young college couple who had after passes, it turned out that the guy was freinds with je and came down because this is je's hometown. After getting in we found out that our seats were not that good. I had exchanged emails with Ken and Beth mosher earlier...long story, and ken knew us by name. Right before the show ken was running back and forth between backstage and the middle of the auditorium (tech stuff)...but nobody noticed him!!!! Me and my dad walked over and talked to him, and I thought my night was made. As soon SNZ started we ran down to the very front to take pictures. The security guard thought that we were important and made sure that nobody went in front or near us the whole show (we were about a foot from the stage). Katharine and Jim were even posing for the camera!! When the show was over we waited around with other fans for autographs...but nobody ever came out. All the other fans had left, and the only people left were us and the clean-up. We were about to go back to the hotel when my dad said he had an idea. He told me to follow him, so I did. We were about to go right in through the backstage door, when the security guy stoped us. after seeing a pass on us he let us in. (he must of thought our backstage passes were after passes.) When we got in there was a sign saying "Squirrel Nut Zippers VIP Party" so we went in. All of a sudden there was Katharine opening gifts from her family. (they were having a small vip/family + friends party) I was just standing around in there when Katharine reaches around me to get a drink!! I then talked to her and got her autograph (very happy she put a heart over it). Then me and my dad got into a big conversation with Stu, he seemed to love my shirt. That night I talked to Chris about his drum stick juggling, Ken about the show, Tom about the show, and Je about trumpet tips. I had gotten all thier autographs except Jim's. (he seemed to be staying in the dressing room the whole time). The next night we went to Myrtle beach SC to see SNZ with Hobex. The show was great, and when it was over I went outside around back for jims autograph. It was late and cold, and we were not allowed to go over to the van (we had to have a band member call us over) finnally Jim and Chris came out and yelled "What are you doing all the way over there!!" and walked over. I talked to jim and chris and got their autographs.(chris's twice.) I also mentioned to jim that I was heading down to Chapel hill the next day, and he said "Good deal. I'll be 'headin down there soon myself." The next day we went to Chapel Hill / Carrabro NC, and I love it there!!!! I went to a GREAT (Record) store and picked up the vinyl for Inevitable, Hot, and Perennial Favorites. I went to a VERY GOOD taco joint called "Wicked Burrito". And went to mammoth for some posters (being very nice, she gave me two free SNZ posters. One which is not sold anywhere!!) And well...that was my trip. And my step-dad said that we might do it next year too!!!! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Feb 1999 01:26:40 -0500 From: Jessica Brandt Subject: re: thanks to me? In response to Je-Son's post about me giving up all the info... I don't think I've done anything above what Matt Mitchell started out...i mean, he owns the greatest domain name in the world! Until recently, all of my SNZ news came from his site. I dunno what happened to matt...i'm assuming he has a life now ;) (Didja check out his "mattyshack" web sites? He's got talent!) And I'm glad to take over and do some dirty work for him. As for giving me something....All I want is Zippers bootlegs Zippers bootlegs Zippers bootlegs....and it seems I have already crnered the market on those hehe....but even tho y'all appreciate this, and I hear the Zippers themselves do too....I will never be as cool as Andy or Ryan cuz the Zippers can't remember my name. Or my face. :P Thanks dude!
