Saturday night's gig was really good. RC was in fine form and the band were very good. Started with 'Obsession' and played two sets of 3 songs from the new album interspersed with the usual stuff. First big 'old' song was "Down in the Lucky Country" where the final stanza was sung by one and all. The PL is a venue with a bar and the 'lounge' where RC played. You (apparently) can book a sit down dinner & show & so those who do get seats in front of the stage & there were 3 rows of about 6 tables each & then the paying punters stand around these. They offer good view of the stage etc. Mostly however, the people who sit in them are reserved. However there was one guy down the front who was clearly a big fan of 'the Great Escape' - apparently at one stage offering RC a scotch to play 'Spellbound' - which RC said "buy me a bottle and we might think about it". Anyway after RC played "the Glory Rd" - the guy got his wish. The band played the first chords of 'I am an island' & the guy was on his feet 'conducting' everyone to sing along. It was quite a sight! It was the first time (I think) I'd heard 'Distant Thunder' played live. It went over well. RC also played a track I didn't recognise which he claimed was from Highway 1 (I - ahem - don't actually have that disc). Anyway after about 80 minutes they played 'Girls OTA' & went off. Returned for Dave (the keyboard player) & RC to do 'Best Years..' etc. I think Dave (Kbs) is still getting used to the audience singing along with BY etc. Did another song which I should remember (but don't) & then they went off. The lights came up to a significant grumble from the crowd and then they dimmed again and they dd return to do one more song - "Goodbye Tiger" RC indicating he'd written the song in South Yarra (not that the PL is all that close, but anyway..). Great gig. Lots of fun & good stuff. RC did take his glasses off once or twice for a second or two - he looks quite strange 'uncovered'!! - --------------------------------- Find local movie times and trailers on Yahoo!
