I was going to take notes, but it was too dark to see. Lisa's set was just her on electric piano and organ. She actually mixed the two on a few songs, a nice touch I haven't seen her do before. There was one new song, something about waking up in the morning to find "he isn't there again". It was cool to hear her play for a non-Lisa fan audience. "We Suck" got a big laugh, which I don't think usually happens when it's all her fans--we've heard the song enough times that the jokes are a bit old. And it reaffirms what I keep saying about Lisa's music, that there's a lot more to it than mopiness! She talked about David Byrne, saying his band was "awesome". Then she complained about how living in LA is making her say things like "awesome". "The other day I even said 'Oh. My. God'. I wanted to strangle myself." I'm not much of a David Bryne fan, but his show was good--he has a kick-ass rythm section. Unfortunately they drowned out the strings a lot of the time. I really appreciate his giving Lisa the exposure though, hope it gooses her album sales some. - --Tom - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. I too am unable to afford the Saratoga tickets, which is sad, because I am going to Cali next week, and will be staying in the Santa Cruz area. (I live in Austin.) Maybe I can just go hiking somewhere near the Mountain Winery and "mooch" off of them. I'm taking our buttons, though, (Thanks, Tony, they're SWEET) just in case my husband goes crazy and decides we can afford the show. I thought about driving to the more affordable Chico show, but it didn't work with our plans. Tom - was the new song you mentioned the same one from that paris may 2003 show from http://prevot.denis.free.fr/Germano.htm perhaps?
