Now back to the topic... I'd go early to the London show as I suspect that Lisa & her skeletons of Liquid Pig may be put as the support to Mr. Doe...what a shame... and maybe try to stick around at Rough Trade the day before for her in-store gig!!!! by the way: does anybody know how the tour schedule after the 14.5. will be? I asked her about the 15.5. in Cologne, but as she thinks this will be switched with Munich (too far for me, then)....LG online says that she will be in Brussels again on the 16.5......is that true, and where?? Anyway, I had the impression that the record company rules again a bit with her....ah well... Her band was really good and she had this kind of tough/sultry demeanor that was pretty hypnotizing. I keep meaning to get one of her albums and get to know her stuff better. I think I'd take her over Niko Case (though I've never seen Niko, just heard one of her albums). As to her "ripping off" the whole alt-country thing--I don't know. All muscians borrow pretty heavily from others, even Lisa. Personally, I think her website's okay, but what difference does it make? Don't judge musicians by their websites--in many cases they have little to do with it! And as to her focus on selling albums, who can blame her? It's very expensive to tour. My band is touring Europe in September--believe me, we'll be pushing CDs like nobody's business! - --Tom - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. I don't blame her to sell her CDs...but in this case it seemed so much all prepared, all proper, all intended, I don't know...so terribly clean. You see, I lose my words trying to explain my aversion... If I go to a concert I want to be touched somewhere, somehow, and not just entertained...maybe that describes it better....after she turned her style for the fourth time that night I really couldn't see what her very *own* thing is like....and that left me feeling there is a very accomplished singer who tries to show me how variable her skills are....not more. uhh that really excites me now....this difference makes Lisa Germano to me....I can always feel, see, hear her in every sound she makes...it is so naked and often not easy to bear....and not entertaining.... it's troubling...making you think, suffer, enjoy...all crooked, all full of diversity... I don't know....maybe I'm too demanding... maybe you need Mandells too, in this world, to make Germanos' speciality glow even more... sorry for my rants....
