"This Year's Crop" was the end result of a talent competition and was recorded at Ribbon Rail Studios, where I was an engineer and part owner. It was the first of several showcase albums, though it was the only one we produced. The Farmers were a popular college bar band that featured songwriter/guitarist Frank Haney as the front man, with lisa and her brother John, Jeff Foster on lead guitar, Phil Starkey on bass, and a plethora of drummers, most notably, Keith Cronin. I was the sound man. Lisa played fiddle, of course, and provided backing vocals. John sang, played acoustic guitar and was a most prolific songwriter providing about half of the band's original material. The band also made it on to a similar album recorded in Indianapolis about a year later, but featured artists from around the state. The title of that work escapes me just now.... Pink and the Naturals were an acoustic string jazz/newgrass group heavily influenced by Django Rienhardt, David Grisman, et. al, whose members changed frequently. Guitarist Larry Clyman founded the group. All of this is to the best of my memory. Standard disclaimers apply.
