We're leaving from Oakland, going down Wednesday the 18th, seeing Lisa that evening, and driving back the next day. I've got plenty of room in the car and table reservations for 3, so if anyone wants to join us, let me know. - --Tom - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. Yeah, I can say the same about artists that are not LA based, but fortunately it seems all bands usually come through here eventually. The sad thing on my part is that I rarely get to see Lisa because I work late. Anyway, I also thought I'd mention that the syndicated public radio program "Sounds Eclectic" (the 'best of' "Morning Becomes Eclectic") has been playing stuff from Lisa's 'Concentrated' and 'Rare' CDs. I know Nic Harcourt is a huge Lisa fan because I've seen him at numerous shows of hers so that's pretty good promotion for her. Did someone say that Lisa was going to be on the new Johnny Marr CD? I thought she was so I bought a promo of it. I'm not sure if she's on this or not though since there are no liner notes. Also, this article was sent to the la-underground list: Lisa Germano Hatches Four New Releases Still angry and dumb and not too cool after all these years Phil Locke reports: After disappointing sales for her 4AD swan song Slide, one-time high school cheerleader and former John Mellancamp fiddler Lisa Germano hinted at an early retirement from solo recording. Subsequent tours and recording stints with the Eels and Neil Finn kept her in the public eye, and apparently reinvigorated her muse. Now she's back with a brand-new solo album, two compilations of her work, and her first-ever producing gig. According to Germano's official website, the solo disc Lullaby for Liquid Pig is scheduled for release on the new Ineffable label (via ArtistDirect) sometime in March. Germano's seventh full-length, the album is a dark account of her relationship with alcohol, and features guest spots from Neil Finn, Johnny Marr, Wendy Melvoin and others. Fans can preview "From a Shell" and "Paper Doll" at the Flash-heavy Lisagermano.com. Both discs are now available directly from Lisa. Check out the official website for ordering details.
