I am currently assembling a Lisa mix CD for a coworker who hasn't heard her before. I am a firm believer that a mix tape/disc should always, in the words of Nick Hornby, "begin with a corker." However, I am having trouble here. I am having trouble deciding on a suitable opener. So anyone, what would you use as the first song in a Lisa mix? What would you use to hook a new listener? Yes, I have thought of that. I should try to construct an approximation of an album, with peaks, valleys, possibly one or two instrumental bridges. I am leaning towards beginning with the take of "Around the World" which kicks off the Capitol version of HAPPINESS. Or maybe I could turn the world upside down and start off with "Stars." - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. Anyway, I began with "Moon Palace" - a good opening trach that shows off Lisa's instrumental talents...then from there the tape slammed into "Puppet" - wake up time! I know a lot of them heavily feature the violin, but this song is one of her best, I think. Looks like a good comp, Krysta! - -kenneth On 11/30/01 8:12 PM, "Krysta Pandolfi" wrote: > My little suggestion: > > I'd begin with > 1. Baby on plane > 2. It's a Rainbow (with OP8) > 3. A masterpiece. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Friday, November 30, 2001 7:51 PM Subject: Re: sycophant Lisa compilation > In a message dated 11/30/01 6:54:32 PM Eastern Standard Time, > scourge@thescourge.com writes: > > > I'd start with one of her album starters - I like the way her albums are > > organized, so I'd stick with what is already an opening track. > > > Yes, I have thought of that.
