If you're starting from Geek, it's a little hard to say, because that's probably the "most different" of her albums, being both a concept album and having a sparser production. I first heard them in the order: Geek, Happiness (4AD), Excerpts, Happiness (capitol), Slide, Moon Palace, and I'd have to rank them as: Happiness (4ad) Geek (but it's hard to compare) Excerpts Slide Happiness (capitol) Moon Palace but it's pretty clearly a matter of personal taste. Still, if you like Geek, I think Happiness is the way to go. Then again, all of them have at least a few great songs. The two albums that took me the longest to appreciate: Geek and Moon Palace. After many many listens to Geek I eventually liked it and decided I had to hear something else; Happiness was one of those rare albums (for me) that I thought was great on first listen. Most of my friends prefer geek the girl too... with slide i think she wasn't bold enough to be that unique yet, but it certainly came through in happiness! Just curious ;) Capitol ver only songs: These Boots... Breathe acrost Texas 4AD ver only songs: Destroy the Flower The Earth 1. Bad Attitude - 4AD ver. has an extra minute of heavy guitar effects at the beginning. 2. Puppet - 2 completely different versions. 3. Energy - 2 completely different versions. 4. Dresses - 2 completely different versions. The capitol versions of these songs sound like the completed studio tracks, while the 4ad versions sound more like rough sketches and home demos. I don't have the bitch ep, so I'm not sure what versions those are :) "Sycophant" is the same on both the 4AD & Cap. releases. ===== http://www.geocities.com/bradleybee Yahoo!
