I'm not so much into the collection thing but as there's nothing new from Lisa, I feel I'm gonna change my mind and do some research for that first version of Happiness and other difficult-to-find ep's or singles or whatever. But first I have to change my mind. I went to the Rolling Stone site (www.rollingstone.com) and there are two pictures of Lisa I didn't see before. Her hair are short so those pictures are not so old. For the Smashing Bullshit's "Mellon Collie...", I read some of the lyrics and I didn't have patience enough to read the rest. I understand why old teenagers or very young adults really love that stuff: Billy Cogan speak the same language and put his words in rhymes and verses, but that's pretty far from poetry and that's only talking about one's feeling with some easy images. I'm quite severe, I know, but I repeat myself: Cogan knows how to speak to the people less than his age, so he does it well. But don't compare these lyrics with those from Howe Gelb, for example, or Vic Chesnutt or from Lisa Germano even. She always talked about the same things but she did it with so much variations, humour, imagination and "profondeur" (in French, I want to say her lyrics are deep, how do you say that?). So Sorry but I don't like Billy Cogan's lyrics. I listen to it regularily when I am in a bad need for uplifting and a good relaxation. They also have Latin Playboys from 1999 and some 500 other shows. http://www.liveconcerts.com/ (under KCWR) - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address.
