To date, only a couple of people have emailed me about how to get stuff in, so maybe I'll revolunteer on the list. In case anyone wonders who the hell I am, I'm a musician and a recording engineer. I live in New York city. I love Lisa's music. I tend to be pretty reliable. As far as the list of songs to be covered, I think it might be a good idea to start from scratch, as some folks have, I believe, gotten disgusted and given up. Please either post what you *will* do, or have done, to the list, or email me and I'll keep track and post the results as they come in. I'll accept songs in any format you can deliver. CDs or DATs would be preferred, although if you mix to 1/2" 30ips I certainly won't complain. But, if cassette is all you have, then by all means send it in. The spirit behind this is the important thing, as far as I'm concerned. I will say that if you've worked hard at making your submission sound good, I won't make it any worse. If anyone has artwork ideas, please let me know. If it's okay, I'll wait and give the address to send things to the people that contact me rather than post it on the list, as it's my home address. I think patience is a good thing. I also think that if we have four songs, then we can put it out. I'd like to do one myself, but I have to get it recorded, so I won't start getting antsy until I have mine done. :^) In case my reply to address isn't working, please email me at mylesdavis@rcn.com. I'm really looking forward to putting this together. I guess there's a lot of history here of things not getting done, but if you send me the songs, I'll complete the project. Promise. Lisa's music has meant a great deal to me and this seems like a good way to say thank you. I've wanted to contribute all along (Everyone's Victim), but this year I'm both building a house and getting married. Most of what I own is in storage right now, so it's slightly impossible at the moment to record anything. But it wouldn't surprise me if this is still being tossed around in six months . . . I've got some cool lo-fi instruments that would sound great, and I'm hoping to build an electric mbira. (First try fed back and howled like a big electric cat.) I was thinking of asking my studio group, the Subfidelics, to do a track, but our stuff is a little too accidental to be covering songs. Last wednesday I expected E to pronounce her name during the concert. He did. And when he did, I said to myself: "How silly I am. I knew it." That was because of Venus. How do they dare to write a song about her in English without asking for the right pronounciation? I don't hear if they have kept their Brussels accent, but that makes a sort of "couleur locale", anyway.
