I just bought the Capitol version of Happiness and it's much much different than the 4AD version, especially the dresses song. Amazingly different. I think I enjoy the 4AD version more, because it does sound like she wants to wear dresses and be protected, but she's angry that she could feel that way and give up her independence. Which is not my insight of course (thank you, Tom) but I can completely understand where she's coming from, which is usually the case with anyone I think because she's so human and real in her music. There's so many levels to her music... Emily Female trouble. Evening the score. Hysteria. Resistance. Whatever you want to call it - we've had enough. It all starts and stops here. -Siobhan McCracken of Homewrecker Foundation, an all female electronica record label On Tue, 23 Nov 1999 TRman2323@aol.com wrote: > I may be reading too much into all this but: > > I just noticed that on the front of Moon Palace (Lisa's first album) she's > wearing a big beautiful dress but she's sitting on the floor amid the > wreckage of what looks like record-industry trophies.
