She said she wanted to keep writing from a positive place, but that it would be hard, and she guessed that her next opus would be otherworldly and probably instrumental.. And of course, she won't put it out. This cannot be true, 4AD can't have kicked her out, I refuse to believe it! Otherworldly and artistic, isn't that what 4AD is all about? As for her recording and releasing them, that I can't vouch for. But she is still very much in touch with her lyrical soul. In fact, she prefaced the new ones with something like "most of these new songs are either about death or alcoholism so it's kinda hard to feel real up about playing them for people" but she did. Man am I glad. - -Chris - --- Stian Sandberg wrote: > Rumours about Lisa quitting the industry is bad > enough, but I searched > through the 4AD News Archive, and found the article > from the time when Slide > was released. So I guess your best bet would be to order it from a good import shop. I would suggest Mod Lang in Berkeley, CA. You'll have to put up with a lot of attitude, but I have yet to find anything they couldn't get. Them or Poobah's in Pasadena, CA. Very helpful but for some reason not quite as effective as Mod Lang.Hope that helps. - -Chris - --- nevermor@mhonline.net wrote: > > > Chloe Grodin wrote: > > > Does anyone know where I can find a copy of Slide > on LP? Man am I glad. Me too. Her previous songs about death and alcohol were superb. It's a bit frustrating to know that she has new songs and she only lacks a label to publish them... I hope Lisa will take the opportunity to work without a recording label! My attitude is that this is a good thing. No pressure, she does what she wants, when she wants, if she wants to record an instrumental record she can. She is established enough to do this. While she is not a household name, she is somewhat known and has a large enough audience to support independant production of her work. She could sale/distribute her stuff through the internet. Of course, maybe she's happy just writing for herself. And I wonder if she'll continue to appear on other recordings (by other artists). The Indigo Girls new CD is weak as hell. They could have used some innovation like Lisa. - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. It was just her and a piano (like she needs more to get her point across) so you don't get the full effect of some of her more produced records, but I was not disappointed. Very good songs speak for themselves, with or without a label or massive production, and Lisa Germano writes some of the best songs these ears have ever heard. Just my 2 cents. - -Chris - --- Pedro Borges wrote: > > Never fear, all of the new songs she played on the > > 22nd at Largo had lyrics. > > So, that means there are new songs.
