(wasn't released in Europe before now, and I haven't been able to order it from some other place yet) It's very different than the other albums, I think, but very good, I really like it. I don't think 'When I think of love' was as good as the one on 'Slush', though. All in all very nice, after waiting so long for it. :-) Martin - -- Martin Eggen (martineg@ifi.uio.no) - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Oct 1998 12:07:24 EDT From: PMJJDH@aol.com Subject: Re: sycophant Slide on Oct.3rd Martin wrote: <> I agree. I find that "When I Think of Love" kind of sticks out like a sore thumb, on what is an otherwise perfect album. Although I love "Slide" for the fact that it is a beautifully produced CD with some really amazing songs, I find some of the techno treatments a little more about keeping with the current music trend, as opposed to the purely idiosycratic way those kind of treatments felt on some of Lisa's earlier releases. I can't explain it, but even though I love listening to and play "Slide" on probably a daily basis and find myself enjoying the various production treatments on it, there will always be something in my heart that needs to go back and listen to Happiness, Geek, and Scenes from, on a regular basis. Best Regards to all. I love the song about hardwood floors (d'oh! I can't remember the name); it sounds like it would be a great song live. By the way, when Lisa Germano plays live, does she usually just use an acoutisc guitar and sometimes a piano, or always a piano, or a violin at times? I know people have posted about her playing a piano recently (and maybe before). Does she have a band with her? I guess it would be hard to play her songs on just one instrument, so she probably does. I wish I could see her live! And another thing, has Lisa Loeb toured for her latest album? I know it was released a while ago, but I didn't hear of a tour for it. Emily MikeNelson: DO NOT SUPPORT JIM CARREY. IT MAKES IT WORSE FOR EVERYONE!!! Lisa will be performing at the Noe Valley Ministry on November 6 at 8:00 p.m. (7:30 doors). Tickets are $12.00 and you can get them online at www.ticketweb.com. I saw Kristin Hersh at this facility, and it's very small and intimate...just perfect for Lisa's stuff (and Kristin's too). If you are going, I highly recommend getting there early so you can get a seat. There is a limited number of seats toward the front; everyone else has to stand. At least, that was the setup when I saw Kristin Hersh.
