The only thing that sucked was the crowd; it turned out Lisa was opening up for the Girl Brothers, the new project by Wendy and Lisa Melvoin ( the twin sisters who played keyboards for Prince and the Revolution in the eighties ) so the crowd was kind of rude. A bunch of people were laughing during "Guillotine" and Lisa said, "I'm glad everyone's laughing while I'm playing this, 'cause, you know, it's FUNNY." I think she was being kind of sarcastic. There were a lot of Lisa Germano fans there, though, so we all clapped and cheered. She played by herself, on guitar on keyboards (no fiddle, unfortunately), and at one point, she said, "If Miamo-Tutti were here he'd jump on my keyboard like this [plays random noises down the keyboard]. He always hits THIS button [plays a cheesy pre-programmed drumbeat] whenever I'm playing a really sad song. I love it when he does that." Naturally, those of us who were there to see Lisa really started clapping and cheering at this point. Her live version of "Reptile" gave me the chills, so did "Way Below the Radio," which was her last song. I didn't stay very long for Wendy and Lisa (the other Lisa), but it sounded like they were playing sort of mediocre folk-rock. More power to 'em, though; I'm happy for them that they're playing shows again. Got my contact sheet back from the developer, today; looks like there will be maybe three or four good pictures. Won't be doing the interview until she comes back from the tour with the Indigo Girls; the magazine itself won't be ready until winter but I'll post an unedited version here on the list first. Also we might post it on the web page before it comes out in print. --Matt J - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant ------------------------------ End of sycophant-digest V3 #75 ****************************** ======================================================================== Please send any questions or comments about the list to sycophant-owner@smoe.org
