I'll borrow some of his stuff from my friend. I only became aquainted with Nick Drake in the past five years or so. My husband, who's British, turned me onto him. I have the reissue of "PINK MOON", great stuff. Do you know, how was it that he died? Was it cancer or MS? St. Ann's, here in Brooklyn had a tribute to Nick Drake about two moths ago, including Robyn Hitchcock, and Peter Holsapple as part of the line up. Do you like John & Bev Martin? Another artist(s) my hubby introduced me to. I especially like the Road to Ruin LP. You speak the truth about how hard we can be on artists, accusing them of selling out to make a buck, when meanwhile, if you've ever tried to make a living doing music, you'd know that its often a thankless and demoralizing process. Pam, Glad to hear you're going to listen to some Forbert. The first two albums are a must, "Alive on arrival" and "Jackrabbit slim". On "Streets of this town" make sure you hear "I blinked once", "Search your heart" and "Mexico". On the "American in me" check out "Responsibility", "When the sun shines" and "You cannot win em all" (Especially if you have kids!) And "Oh to be back with you" on "Mission of the crossroad palms" is bee-u-t-ful. I could keep going, cause I love em all, but these are just a few that shine! Happy listening, Steve is a great artist. Stay Happy!
