[Talulah Gosh ] sycophant Lisa / Smashing Pumpkins [Tim Morrison Subject: sycophant Touring with Pumpkins!! listen up guys and gals!!! this is sooo exciting! ________________________________________________________________________ In other Pumpkins news, Lisa Germano -- the singer and violinist who has a few impressive albums under her belt (Happiness, Geek the Girl, and Excerpts from a Love Circus) -- will be performing with the band on their forthcoming tour. Before becoming a solo artist, Germano toured and recorded with John Mellencamp (whose longtime drummer, Kenny Aronoff, will play drums on the Pumpkins tour as well)... That was from Allstar yesterday!. Ching ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 14:34:54 EDT From: Venmlegion Subject: Re: sycophant Touring with Pumpkins!! I'm disapointed to hear that Lisa will be playing with such a lame and trendy band. This not only cuts her set in half, but it also raises the ticket price, and keeps her out of clubs this time around. Hopefully she'll at least make some cash, and some new fans. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 14:42:53 EDT From: Kitimitsu Subject: Re: sycophant Touring with Pumpkins!! I wanted to see garbage when the toured with SP but the tickets were so pricy. Oh well :( Someone as talented as Lisa Germano should be Touring on her own. -Katie ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 15:14:51 EDT From: Guineaworm Subject: Re: Re: sycophant Touring with Pumpkins!! >>>>>This not only cuts her set in half, but it also raises the ticket price,<<<<< She is touring with them as a backup musician. Don't expect her to be playing any of her stuff. Yeah, I would much rather see her on an OP8 tour, but this may give her at least some financial relief and heck, maybe its what she wants to do! good for her then! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 15:08:02 -0400 (EDT) From: Talulah Gosh Subject: Re: sycophant Touring with Pumpkins!! Well at least I can see her live...I didn't think I'd ever have the opportunity to do that and I'm willing to pay anything for it. I'm so exicted about this, even if I do have to sit through the Smashing Pumpkins. Emily "I want to know God's thoughts...the rest are details." The first time was back in '94 and i was so excited to see them but during the show some idiot threw something at Corgan and he threw a fit and ended the show. i was pissed. i swore i would never see them again. But because i liked their double album so much i went again in '96. And again cry baby corgan stopped the show because he said the crowd wasn't into. This time i really swore that i would never see them again, but if Lisa is playing with them i may have to AARRRRRGGGHGH. oh well at least we finally got some news about her. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 16:23:05 EDT From: Kitimitsu Subject: Re: sycophant arrrrghhh In a message dated 98-04-30 16:23:31 EDT, you write: << And again cry baby corgan stopped the show because he said the crowd wasn't into. >> wow, what a jerk. Maybe some people don't "get into" shows. I know when I go to concerts, I just sit there quietly, no matter how much I enjoy it, cause that's just the kinda person I am. That's really selfish of him. I'd demand money back for something that stupid. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 14:27:00 -0500 From: Tim Morrison Subject: sycophant Lisa / Smashing Pumpkins >Wait, she's going to be their back-up musician?! Meaning she's just >playing their music. Great. Now my dreams have been crushed. Oh, give me a break. While, I, too would much rather see and hear her perform her own material, I am glad to see she is lending her talents to different musicians and different kinds of music outside the usual John Mellencamp/Indigo Girls work. Whatever her reasons for joining the Pumpkins on their tour, she seems to be in control of her work and career, so I would say she knows what she's doing. As someone said in a previous post, maybe it's for financial reasons or maybe it's because she >wants< to do it. If it's a money issue, I personally would rather see her in a position where she has the means, financially and logistically, to do her own material, even if that means she has to be a "back-up musician" for another group or performer. This isn't a bad thing, but I'm getting the feeling that she's being looked down on because of that. Whether or not you like the Smashing Pumpkins (I happen to like them, myself), take a moment to think about what the presence of Lisa and Kenny's talents will add to the Pumpkins' music. I'm really looking forward to it, though I must admit I was just as surprised as anyone else when I heard the news. And don't forget, we have a whole new album of Lisa's material to look forward to later this year...and I wouldn't be at all surprised if a tour follows. -- StealthBear stelthbear@aol.com tim.morrison@westgroup.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 17:40:34 -0500 (EST) From: just a pretty little princess Subject: Re: sycophant Lisa / Smashing Pumpkins the whole smashing pumpkins thing.. i think it -might- be financial releif, because i was talking to my dad last week and he said lisa was living in california working in a bookstore and i asked him "is it because she wants to or because she has to?" he said he thought it was because she had to.. also, my sister is a -huge- sp fan, so i always hafta go to concerts, im really excited. also, even more exciting, my really great friend's dad is the infamous kenny aronouf's son, so i get backstage passes if and when they play around here.. yee-haw.. do you think kenny introduced the pumpkins to lisa, and suggested the whole thing? well, ciao. - -corinna ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The Windows Of My Soul Are Made Of ~One Way Glass~ http://www.bluemarble.net/~cory/ani.html *maybe i should put a bucket over my head* http://www.bluemarble.net/~cory Islands are metaphors for the heart, no matter what poet says otherwise. -Jeanette Winterson ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Apr 1998 19:08:56 -0500 (EST) From: just a pretty little princess Subject: Re: sycophant Lisa / Smashing Pumpkins the whole smashing pumpkins thing.. i think it -might- be financial releif, because i was talking to my dad last week and he said lisa was living in california working in a bookstore and i asked him "is it because she wants to or because she has to?" he said he thought it was because she had to.. also, my sister is a -huge- sp fan, so i always hafta go to concerts, im really excited. also, even more exciting, my really great friend's dad is the infamous kenny aronouf's son, so i get backstage passes if and when they play around here.. yee-haw.. do you think kenny introduced the pumpkins to lisa, and suggested the whole thing? -Jeanette Winterson ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 01 May 1998 18:07:49 +1000 From: "Jason D.
