My faves from this CD are: >Trouble, Sexy Little Girl Princess, ...Of Love and Colors, and Stars (so >romantic!). My favorite lisa cd is the first one I got, "Geek the Girl." Nothing else I have ever heard has matched so perfectly the mysterious weirdness, fear and beauty of being a young woman in the often hostile territory of late-20th century America. (For those who don't know me, I am usually more optimistic!) I also love "Love Circus" , and I just purchased Happiness for $6. So tell me everyone, what other Lisa G. is absolutely a must-have. And do you have any other musical reccommendations? (Anyone suggesting michael Bolton or the Spice Girls will be quietly ignored.) Tonight on jamTV (on the Internet) Lisa will be appearring and performing live. Well, almost live. This is a taped performance from her Chicago gig on 4/4/97. Go to: http://www.jamtv.com/sections/home/text/default.asp What can the list tell me about this disk I picked up yesterday... It is a 4-song "promotion only" cd from 4AD, featuring the following tracks: 1) Cry Wolf (edit) 4:07 2) The Mirror Is Gone 2:41 3) Cancer Of Everything (Remix) 3:44 4) Sexy Little Girl Princess (Remix) 3:45 It states that "original" versions are from the 4AD release "Geek The Girl". However, the disc is dated 1992, and that timing seems a bit off from the actual release of GtG. I know "Mirror" is a non-album cut, but just not familiar with the existence of this disk. Well, if you are looking for obscure Lisa performances, you may want to look for a piece of vinyl called "Both Sides of Gordon Phillips". Recorded around '80, Lisa performs on all of side 2, recorded at Vegetable Buddies in South Bend. If you are under the age of 30 you have probably never heard of VB's. I "managed" GP for a little while. I think Lisa met up with him years prior while both(?) were in a band called "Crossroads Band", which also briefly included Tommy Shaw. VB's was 'the' music hang-out in the mid-to-late 70's. The Faith Band recorded their King Biscuit Flower Hour there (I worked as a sound guy). Which means I set up 2 mikes and drank Jack Daniels in the trailer.... Musical recommendations? Jann Arden "Living Under June" is a must-have. For something more eclectic, try Carla Bley. I noticed that when you click on Lisa's name where the info for tonight's show is listed, you'll get to an area where there's a link to the Chicago show. I'm at work right now without RealAudio access--but does this mean that they're playing the show as part of some sort of live broadcast tonight, but you can listen to/watch the archived one even now? Also, what time zone is the listed time refering to? Thanks. I just got my copy of that Lovesick remix that I was telling you about last week. First of all, the packaging is great...it comes in a little brown paper bag. I thought that was cute. So, I put the vinyl on the player and gave it a spin, not knowing what to expect. Believe it or not, it was really good. They kept all the vocals which I think is important in any remix and they gave teh song a real laid back locked groove. It's not dancy, it's not ethereal, it's just damn funky. Check it out! Start time > is EST Okay-- well here's where the archive is: When you go to the main screen, click on "artists" in the left-hand frame. When the "artists archive" page comes up, you can either choose "G" or search for Germano to get to Lisa'a page. From there you can click on "concerts" or "interviews" to get at the RealAudio of the Chicago concert and the interview after. Both are entirely audio, and good audio, with no video, but they're there to listen to, over and over again, at any time. Hopefully in tonight's rebroadcast, they'll include video. I'm hoping. Anyway, it's 45 minutes from now, but anyone who misses it can take heart that they can at least hear the show from the site. Thanks for alerting us to it! I'd never have known about it otherwise and I'm really happy now.
