I almost stopped wondering, which is something Liz must have realized. The giveaway Bollywood is all I've heard so far, but it's a fair explanation of what's happened to her from her view. She's just saying, in true spoiled kid style (I say it with love), look crazy bad shit has happened to me. You don't know. And I believe her. It's not an excuse completely, because I think she likely suffers from a lack of discipline artistically (and most other ways, no doubt), as she'd probably admit herself (who doesn't?), but it is something of an explanation. Anyway, welcome back Liz, we hardly knew ye! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Jul 2010 09:15:16 -0700 (PDT) From: lby3@lby3.com Subject: [support-system] Funstyle tracklists Where are these critics getting the song order from? It's not the same as if one actually buys it (they keep moving U Hate It). Since a lot of them mostly comment on "Bollywood," I'm wondering if most of them haven't bought it and are just recopying the playlist from each other instead of doing the original research (it seems odd to call it that, but that's what it is) of actually getting the album themselves. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Jul 2010 21:49:28 -0400 From: Jase Subject: [support-system] Fwd: RE: support-system-digest V12 #15 [Just a reminder: Please don't quote the entire previous digest when you send a reply to the list, as it will cause the message to bounce. Yes. Okay, I get it. The computer screen album artwork. From Smoke (it's career suicide) to U Hate It (we don't agree on it), she knows we're going to get on the internet and talk about what a piece of garbage it is. I don't think the name of the .zip file "Buy Funstyle July 2010" is necessarily an oversight. It's like all part of the joke. Or maybe not. Some of the tracks aren't coded in iTunes. I don't care for Smoke or Bollywood. You Should Know Me is a crappy song, but at this point it's just good to hear her voice. Miss September is stronger and we've got some cheesy rhymes. My My and Oh, Bangledesh are growing on me, but by Bang! Bang! and Beat Is Up I'm starting to get sick of this calypso electronica bullshit. Beat Is Up is like a modern-day California, but so not as funny. I completely love And He Slayed Her. I remember hearing this live in 2008...? It was untitled, but there's a few youtubes out there calling it "new song". These are the best lyrics and vocals on the album imo. Satisfied starts out good then she quotes Ghostbusters and pukes everywhere then "somethings aren't that different, but other things, they've changed"? Really? U Hate It = U Got Me, Liz, I hate it. I'm not disappointed, I'm proud of her for doing what she wants and anticipating the criticism and making a joke out of it. She's still fucking funny. And knows how to unapologetically piss us off. For the record, I've never given up on Liz. I just don't think I can lean on her anymore. I can't rely on the lyrics to change me. I'm not deeply moved. BUT as always, new Liz is better than no Liz. Right? ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V12 #16 ************************************
