What is Starz? And how much does a gallon of water weigh?' all good questions. anyhow, this same preview may be available on other services, like comcast, etc., but i can only vouch for it being on FiosTV, in the on-demand section. it's a free-view, only about 6 minutes long, and liz is only in like 2 minutes of the show, featured as a patient of the shrink that the show is about. the show starts airing on Starz on january 23nth, and liz seems to be on episode #5, along with ralph macchio, who plays another patient visiting the office. it is a comedy, not a dramedy or a romcom or a comporn or a torturmedy. liz does not sing, although she plays herself. she also gets a writing credit at the end of the ep, but so does everyone in the show, so i suppose it's improvised to some degree. i don't know that, and really, it's not worth all this typing. but i just thought i'd pass it along in case anyone remains on this list, and of those remainders, anyone has access to the on-demand preview. as for listening in 2007, i was lazy, but: - - lots of palomar, from brooklyn, maybe my favorite release of '07 was their 'all things, forests' - - lots of the new pornographers, which i only just discovered in 2007 - - latest foo fighters, though i wish they still recorded in virginia - - amy winehouse - - essex green (more twee stuff, but i like the songs) - - arcade fire - - blonde redhead '23' - - charlotte gainsbourg, but only because i'm partial to her in movies; the music is okay - - eddie vedder's soundtrack to 'into the wild', 'hard sun' features corrin tucker - - the shins 'phantom limb' live on snl, featuring 1/2 of viva voce on backing vocals - - re-releases on itunes of 'the modern dance' by pere ubu, and 'never mind the bollocks' - - sonic youth's version of 'i'm not there', and the malkmus songs on the soundtrack of the same name. i hate all the music i like anymore. but, strangely, the reverse is not true. i think my favorite single song was 'cheekbone hollow' by the child ballads, the version i got from the washingtonpost.com site, with the haunting girly background vocals. http://www.gypsyeyesrecords.com/mp3/child-ballads-cheekbone-hollows.mp3 also, i love the use of the guitar break from 'pale blue eyes' in the amazing 'diving bell and the butterfly'. if it wasn't already such an astonishing movie, that moment alone would make it worth the price of a movie-sized kit kat bar and coke. sometimes you can forget that's the best song ever made. i'm no lou reed fan, but that song, man... o _________________________________________________________________ Climb to the top of the charts!
