So what's available where? First, using the oft-circulating version, I'll do some matching. Preceding each track will be T1-01, which will mean tape 1 track 1; T2-02, tape 2 track 2; and so forth. For our purposes, tape 1 is designated as "Yo Yo Buddy Yup Yup Word To Ya Muthuh" and tape 2 is "Girls Girls Girls": Tape One: T1-01 White Babies T1-07 Johnny Sunshine T1-09 Elvis Song T1-14 Fuck Or Die T3-xx Flower T3-xx Beg Me T3-xx Double Dutch (Whip-Smart) T3-xx Speed Racer T3-xx California T3-xx South Dakota T3-xx Stratford-On-Guy T1-02 Shane T1-03 6 Dick Pimp T1-04 Divorce Song T1-05 Go West T1-06 Don't Hold Your Breath (If I Ever Pay You Back) T1-13 In Love With Yourself Tape Two: T2-01 Hello, Sailor T2-02 Wild Thing T2-03 Fuck And Run T3-xx Gigalo (aka Can't Get Out Of What I'm Into) T3-xx Batmobile T3-xx Slave T3-xx Easy T3-xx Chopsticks T2-04 Easy Target (aka Do You Love Me?) And what is on that "third tape"? To be concluded in the next post... - -Ken kenmlee@ix.netcom.com MeSmErIzInG - AnOtHeR LiZ PhAiR WeBsItE http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Apr 2006 00:20:13 -0700 From: Kenneth Lee Subject: Re: [support-system] Re: Sounding Girly -- analysis part three And now the conclusion... So the tracks left out of the circulating two-tape Girly Sound are: Girls Girls Girls Polyester Bride Thrax Miss Mary Mack Clean Love Song Valentine Shatter All of the above tracks are from the "Girls Girls Girls" tape. The next question is... what is on the "third" Girly Sound tape? Let's take a look: Flower Open Season (aka Beg Me) Double Dutch (Whip-Smart) Speed Racer California South Dakota Stratford-On-Guy Gigalo (aka Can't Get Out Of What I'm Into) Batmobile Slave Easy Chopsticks That's 12 tracks. Assuming Liz kept a 14-song lineup throughout the Girly Sound cassettes, then there are two more tracks that we don't have yet. One might be "Head On", which is name checked in a review in "Rockpool", January 1, 1993 -- you can find this article here: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/00000029.html Liz used the third Girly Sound tape (with the exception of "Dead Shark") for "Juvenilia". And what about "Red Ruby Lips"? That's Odetta singing "John Henry". We don't know where that came from and/or who included it. The final question, which I can't answer, is... who sequenced the circulating two-tape Girly Sound? And does anyone have a spare copy of the third Girly Sound tape that I can borrow? - -Ken kenmlee@ix.netcom.com MeSmErIzInG - AnOtHeR LiZ PhAiR WeBsItE http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Apr 2006 15:17:24 -0500 From: "Liz J" Subject: [support-system] Girly Sound I just think it's odd/fascinating that songs such as Jealousy (Thrax) and Polyester Bride where, at least to my knowledge, never confirmed as GS songs by Liz. You'd think when PB came out there would have been one interview about her reworking the song for wcse, although I think I remember reading on the LP message board that she said it was an "earlier" track, which I guess people assumed to mean 1995-97. Ken, thanks again for getting these tracks out there. :) ~ Liz, but not *that* Liz ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V9 #35 ***********************************
