It's just not a very good record. It's boring, and I didn't think any of the writing was particularly clever. I was very disappointed in it. I was big supporter of the self-titled one (except the underwear song.....that's a whole other thing), and I compare that one to Aimee Mann's "Bachelor No. 2" (many producers, etc.). The production is all over the place, and it makes for an interesting listen. But her new one...I can't even listen to the whole thing straight through. Sorry Liz. I'm not knocking anyone for loving it or anything like that, but I just needed to share my opinion. Also, that same person mentioned listening to the new Cat Power record. I'm extrememely jealous right now. I've been wanting to listen to that one for several weeks now. I d/l'ed the new song from the matador site, and the second I heard it, I needed the whole album. So, DAMN YOU AND YOUR NEW CAT POWER LISTENING HIDE TO THE FIERY PITS OF HADES!!! (That's the jealousy talking....I swear.) But can I ask you, just how good is it? Is it her best one yet? Album of the Year 2006? Please go into as much detail as you can. Cuz I accidentally deleted the digest where you had written your message. Brett "Bravo Mr. Segalot. There's so much awesome guitar work on it, it's fantastic. Also, I snagged Jenny Lewis's (of Rilo Kiley) solo effort, which is pretty amazing. So so good. I recommend that one to everyone, as well!
