I haven't listened to more than 4 or 5 songs yet..but I like what I've heard a lot. It's definitely not like LP. I don't know how to describe it though, because it's not like EIG, WS, WCSE, or anything else she's done. THe best way I can describe it is as if you put songs in a blender that were written for the ROlling Stones, the Grateful Dead, and with a little Sheryl Crow mixed with Hillary DUff thrown in. It's like a different genre -rock? - I don't know I can't put my finger on it yet. FOr those who have been on this list forever - remember when "Liz" posted an email to us about that she was working on a song called "My Mistake" and posted some of the lyrics? I think some of us weren't sure if it was really from her or not. Well, I know I'm getting old and my memory sometimes fails me, but I am pretty sure that the first track, Leap of Innocence, is actually My Mistake. DOes anyone still have that email somewhere? Id' love to compare the lyrics because I think they are the same. Hmmmm..... (Ken do you already know the answer to this?) Can't GEt Out of What I'm Into is ok, it's good, ...I wish it were either grittier or more stripped down though. It's a faster beat. THe production/guitar/sound of the song reminds me of the Lil Russian GIrl instrumental that's on one of my tapes (Pottymouth GIrl? WHich tape it is escapes me at the moment). The "THen I'll go back to school" line is really dumb and sticks out. IF she had to change it, for goodness sake, I agree with who ever said make it rhyme at least. I mean good grief. Even "I'll get over my fears" or anything that rhymes would have sounded better. I'll go back to school just sounds dumb. I love WHy I Lie. Great song. Very summer. I wish Jerry Garcia were still alive. He and Bob Wier should have been a 3 person duet with Liz on Everything Between US. As a former Deadhead, I can say that listening to this song for the first time made me think of Jerry on stage, tie die t shirts everywhere and beach balls bouncing through the audience. "Stars and PLanets" has the same feel at the beginning. "Table for ONe" sounds better on this cd than what I've heard live or from her website. It is, IMHO, the Little Digger and Go On Ahead of this album. Even the songs on the CD that were on Promo Squad sound better on the cd, but I don't think they changed any. They didn't grow on me, cuz I haven't heard them since. THey are ok! (What happened to me?) It appears, so far, to be a good album. I actually like it a lot. (NOt like LP - where upon first listen it was obviously disposable consumable pop so it grew on me then I liked it. This I popped in the player and liked it right off.) I figured I'd hate it. Who knew? Good for you Liz! I'll post more after I listen to the rest of it. ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V8 #108 ************************************
