I found out by accident, and thought maybe some of you missed it. It's sure to sell out before too long. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Aug 2005 03:03:29 -0500 From: "Mark J. Foxx" Subject: [support-system] mother's little helper I love "Mother's Little Helper"! A lot more than anything else I've heard Liz cover anyway. I hope Liz puts out a cool version of it. I'm probably more excited about this than I am about her new album. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Aug 2005 21:31:17 -0500 From: Tyler Coates Subject: [support-system] Liz in the Park Hey, Just got back from downtown Chicago and seeing Liz perform at Millennium Park. It was such an awkward show because of the audience and Antigone Rising (or were they Falling?) - lots of kids (there were two German boys wrestling next to us and they kept hitting my roommate) as well as this creepy 30something guy who stood in front by himself until one of the guys working backstage told him to move. Also, everyone was pretty silent, so I wonder how many Liz fans were there or if it was just a thing random people show up to. I had mixed feelings about Antigone...I decided that I could like them if I didn't have to see them perform or pay attention to their lyrics. The singer had a GREAT voice, but because she didn't play an instrument she kept making weird dancing movements with her hands and arms. Plus, she would introduce songs with stuff like, "This song is about when you can't really find the words for what's going on." (Like that really means anything at all.) Liz talked a bit about being back in Chicago and missing thunderstorms or something, and she was excited that the Bean was fully exposed (the guys washing it from a crane waved back at her). She played five songs, two more than I expected, and here's the set list: 1. Polyester Bride 2. Extraordinary 3. Everything To Me 4. Supernova ("I'll have to change some of the words for the wee-ones," she said.) 5. Why Can't I It was an okay show...I've been jumping at any chance to see her perform an accoustic set. I'm extremely jealous of everyone seeing her at the Black Orchid this week. Tickets went on sale for her show at the Vic in October...I think I may go by myself since none of my roommates want to pay $30 for a ticket. Maybe when it gets closer to the show I'll see who else from the list is going... I have no friends in Chicago - I just moved here two weeks ago from Virginia - so I thought I'd give it a shot! Tyler. PS, I noticed that Dino's eyebrows looked like they had lines shaved into them, which was weird. Also, my roommate noticed that he was wearing what looked like a wedding band...Anyone else notice that? - -- John Tyler Coates coatesjt@gmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Aug 2005 19:46:52 -0400 From: munnjp@ryder.com Subject: [support-system] Birchmere night #2 setlist Polyester Bride Wild Thing Never Said Baby Got Going Extraordinary Table For One Mesmerizing Uncle Alvarez May Queen Somebody's Miracle Soap Star Joe 6'1" Closer To You Everything to Me Divorce Song Supernova Why Can't I? But she seemed to play the same amount of shows. I didn't get to post my own review of the Birchmere show because I moved from VA to Chicago the very next day, but I enjoyed it sooo much. My friend and I did yell out requests ("Shatter," "Why I Left California," and "Dogs of LA") but she denied us. Liz still played a few songs I thought I'd never hear live, thought - Explain It To Me!!! - so I guess I can forgive her.
