I agree with ken - probably the best liz show i've seen. it was phenomenal. I want to thank laura for her 2 extra tix so my friends were able to go and not have to pay $50 (the going rate on craigs list)- we all loved the show. so we went downstairs afterwards (the first 50 people who showed their stamp from upstairs got to see the cafe du nord show for free) and it was very electronic, tons of stuff on stage, computers and what not- it was a band called Zilla. we just couldnt do it! after the amazing simplicity of liz and her acoustic, the electronic overload was a bit too much for us. another funny thing was that they weren't selling alcohol upstairs and downstairs didnt open til liz was about to go on - so we bought a flask of vodka and one of jack and bought the cans of soda and spiked them. I felt 16! it was pretty hilarious and added to the bizarreness of the venue. christine and ken - good job on setlist recap. I failed miserably at my attempt to get her to play freak of nature or go west. I also wanted to yell don't have time and white bird of texas but my voice was defnitely not loud enough. thats cool christine that it was you who yelled bloodkeeper. i love that song! another thing - I ended up getting to the first night late because I was at a wine tasting party and didn't want to leave til it was over. So the ticket time said 9:30. well, the opener started at 9:05! and Liz came on at 9:40 - I was really pissed. I didn't know venues could do that. I didnt get there til 10:15 and by the time i finally made my way to the front, she was on the last song. and then no encore. I couldn't believe it! I did get to hear stuck on an island at least which was so fun. it seemed like no one in there had ever heard that song before. so has she done encores at any show yet? why isnt she? I am so psyched for her upcoming fillmore show! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Aug 2005 08:16:57 -0400 From: "M.C. I know there are some unofficial recordings floating around and the more production-friendly versions were just talked about here. I'm trying to track these down for a part of a friend's birthday present. I'm guessing that p2p is my best bet, so can someone let me know what songs to look for to help with the signal-to-noise ratio? I can always hope for a direct link, but our RIAA overlords don't look kindly on those kinds of things. Also, shes got an article floating around the AP these days: http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/17/music.fiona.ap/index.html Of course, apologies if I missed it being posted in the last few day's worth of digests. No word on whether it's a cover of the Stones tune or not, but I would imagine so, since the soundtrack looks to be pretty heavy on covers.
