I reviewed one of Liz Phair's shows at the Birchmere last week, and because of my journalist status, I got an advance copy of the album. I really don't want to do a track-by-track run-down of it, because that's just a little too "nyah nyah look what I have and you don't", but overall, it's pretty good. It's a little mushy in places, it's definitely no Exile, but it's got a lot of similarities to WCSE.... and that makes it, to me, a little more palatable than the self-titled one :) But anyway, the spoiler for the album is about the track "Can't Get Out of What I'm Into" -- I was going through some of my old digests this morning and saw Jase's post above and figured I'd chime in. Do you remember the original Girlysounds version? It's got this verse: The things I have to do would make a slut blush blue But I can't get out of what I'm into I figure two more years, then I'll go back to queers But I can't get out of what I'm into The new version has these lyrics: The things I have to do would make a slut blush blue But I can't get out of what I'm into I figure two more years, then I'll go back to school But I can't get out of what I'm into Um, Liz? Go back to SCHOOL?! What the heck are you talking about!! Other than that, though, the song sounds pretty much the same as the Girlysounds version, just a little fuller and a little more glossy -- but hey, I'll take what I can get. It was cool to hear the song again, re-done, even if it wasn't exactly the way I remembered it. :) Catherine. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2005 11:21:17 -0400 From: "M.C.
