Her set was pretty much the same - (bear with me on the names of the songs - I have my own names for some of them, but the song should be apparent if the name is not exactly what is published) - Polyester Bride, "Girls Call Murder", Extraordinary, Mesmerizing, Clean as a Whistle, Uncle Alvarez, Somebody's Miracle, Sometimes a Dream, Closer to You (a new song not on the next CD), Russian Girl, 6'1, ? (can't read handwriting - sorry), Real to Me (new song -not sure this is accurate title), Little Digger, Black Market White Baby Dealer, Supernova, Flower, "Box it Up" - sorry - the title has excaped me), Why Can't I, and Fuck and Run. The only difference I can think of off hand was last night she played Wild Thing, and did a goof on Turning Japanese. Also, tonight she did a riff of a Delta Blues song that was great - maybe a new genre for her. I agree with Gabriel mostly about the first show - but I do think her guitar playing is stronger than people give her credit for - always been an area she has not got credit for. Also, tonite things seemed frosty between her and Dino - so there is hope for me yet! Liz seemed very happy to be performing where and how she was, saying words to the effect that 95% of the time they don't have the freedom to perform they way they do on this tour. The performance was great, Liz had a great stage presence on some of the numbers - actually appearing to be singing to the audience. All the seats on the floor were close (I counted 5 rows back from the wide stage). when she pulled back from the mike to sing the vocals were very good. The new songs all seem to be ballads, but they're sweet. Here are the numbers I remember hearing, I have likely missed a few. I'm pretty sure of the opening three and the "encore". Everything else listed I'm sure she played, but can't remember the order. 6' 1" Why Cant' I Somebody's Miracle (song from the next CD) Polyester Bride Baby Got Going - this by request from the audience, not on the set list; Liz sang and chuckled as she remembered the lyrics Uncle Alvarez Supernova Never Said Soap Star Joe Mesmerizing Fuck And Run Divorce Song Gunshy Black Market White Babies Extraordinary Rock Me Little Digger - - Can't remember the title of the new song that won't be on the CD - "Missing You" maybe? - it should have been, it was better than the others, I thought - - they played at least a second song from the next CD - - Early on she played a song that everyone else in the crowd seemed to know - -- I guess that was from the Girly Sounds days. Flower (as the Encore, she announced she would do 2 more numbers and not do that fake walk off the stage and come back after 3 minutes of applause) I was at Joe's Pub on Monday for the Waifs and they confirmed the NY shows are sold out. The Paradise was as small as Joe's Pub (maybe a little larger with the upper deck) and a lot grungier. There were at least a dozen digital cameras in the audience so maybe someone will post better photos than I took. 2 photos - -- "Remember, I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together." - Red Green ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V8 #85 ***********************************
