Oh please ... I thought this was the one place I could turn to for an agenda-free zone ... stop with the politics, I wanna get off. To bring it back to Liz, the promosquad thing didn't work for me, by the time I went to the site to download those songs the link was dead, so I still have heard no new Liz. But dammit it's not for lack of trying. Anyone care to help a sista out? sandra ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Jun 2005 12:19:02 -0400 From: Tyler Coates Subject: [support-system] Birchmere Show I was just checking out the website for the Birchmere theater in Alexandria to see if the show would be standing or seated. The tickets were general admission, but my friend is convinced it will be a sit-down event. Does anyone have any idea? Also, Liz is booked for a second night "due to popular demand." I think tickets for both nights are still on sale, though. I'm glad that you did. Had you just sent them exclusively to me, it would have felt more like a personal issue than an attempt to spark discussion on the list . I also knew that the people on this list would have a more open view on things (thank you Dan and Dana). A number of us recommend albums from time to time and even come up with top 10 lists of likes/dislikes for the year. Maybe you have even done the same. Being on this list for a long time, I've learned to take "criticism" of my views and taste as just someone expressing their opinion (as everyone has a right to do). I really don't fully understand your purpose to this particular post..was it kidding? an exclusive love of Liz and no other music? Was it a distaste for my political undertones? I look at music like a grocery store. You don't like everything in it (who does?) but to say that they are not selling more bananas because people are buying canned peas is a little incomprehensible. When does liking a wide variety of music become a "yikes" thing? I'm curious to have you expound on this further. Well at least we got the list talking some more! *scratching head* (How the f*ck can you not like Beck?) On another note, if anyone on this list is living in Canada or has lived in Canada or is contemplating a move to Canada, please send me a email off list with..you guessed it..Canada in the title. We are thinking aboot :>) a move to north of the border in the future and want some info from folks actually living there, DarkSide oftheMoon >Date: Sun, 12 Jun 2005 08:11:50 -0700 (PDT) >From: Scott Hamilton >Subject: Re: [support-system] what do you mean you don't have these yet? >Yikes. That's an order! Beck - Guero. Call it O'Delay part two. Like a pair of old blue jeans this cd slips on easy. Body moving beats courtesy of the chemical brothers (what chemicals *are* they on?), lyrics that if you or I wrote them would sound stupid (but Beck of course pulls it off) but have you singing in the shower in no time at all, "not-over-production" producing and mixing that will get you through the summer of war. Dave Matthews Band - Stand Up. Another cd that sound familiar upon first listening. Repeated listenings reveal a not so quite busy musical effort form the boys in the band. Still nice though to see him stick some anti-war rhetoric in to keep the stoned masses on the right track. System of a Down - Mezmerize Judas Priest! These guys lay waste to your head with a sonic assault that you *cannot* ignore. Play B.Y.O.B for all your Republican prezident supporting friends and watch them squirm uncomfortably out of the room. Now that RATM is gone, these boys not only pick up the mantle, they tattoo it on your ass. Viva la resistance! Producer John Alagia (John Mayer, Jason Mraz) and engineer Brian Scheuble are also said to be helming the board for this LP, which leaves Phair one step away from a Santana collaboration and a dread-lust Adam Duritz affair. Fuck fuck fuck. So does this mean her loser boyfriend is not producing the disc? Or is that the loser boyfriend? Maybe he just did the demos?
