I found myself humming one of those new songs yesterday at work - "part of me" - but made up my own words. At least that one's catchy. I listened to them all again while stuck in traffic for an hour yesterday. You know, if the "blue eyes bluer than the blue sky" song had the 5 or 6 "mushy/romantic" lines taken out of it she could easily say that it was about her son and I'd be ok with it. One of the songs she talks about in the first few lines that "stick with me I've been thru hell we'll make it I promise" then later in the song talks about how he doesn't know her, will he ever? and ends with "I bet it makes you laugh to watch me try so hard to reach you" or something like that. That song irks the hell out of me because either she couldn't decide if this song was going to be about someone great and trying to convince them to stick with her or if it was going to be about a real jerk she's with. It comes off that she's weak and in a potentially abusive relationship with someone not worthy of her and she has no self esteem. The song about somebody's miracle comes off to me the same way - I have low self esteem because I'm not in a 50 year relationship. What happened to the Liz of girls! girls! girls! ? thanks for reading....still holding out hope for better..... ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V8 #45 ***********************************
