GO! ["Katie Brown" Subject: [support-system] liz spotting i saw liz phair on the screen in the clothing section of JC Penny yesterday at lunch, that was pretty cool the display had one big screen and six smaller screens around it. im not sure what the point of those really are, i never see anybody watching them or anything. maybe on weekends when its busy...the concept is pretty cool though, just videos, unlike the supposed music television channels - -- did you change the world or your point of view? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Aug 2004 13:52:29 -0700 From: "Christine Hademan" Subject: [support-system] Stats? Does anybody have current figures for album sales of each of Liz's albums? Or know where I could get them? Just curious... A total joy. First, Lani, thanks again for your thoughtful reply to the digest the other day. It's not even about being negative, it's about measuring time-- it's simple math. When you've invested 12 years in appreciating an artist, it comes as a shock when an 8-year-old talks about it. I mean, Whip-Smart had looooong been released before this child was born. ...and I am not talking about investing time in an artist in ANY sort of "she-owes-us" way. I'm not and she doesn't. Liz can do whatever she wants... and she still rocks. LP is just so very different than EIG that they just don't have the same appeal, no matter which you prefer. Also, this list has certainly been through times when one person tried to dictate what should and should not be posted. Let's just not go there again. ;-) The show was great last night -- maybe second only to the Lounge Ax show of the 14 shows I've seen. She covered Rocky Mountain Way which was an absolute treat. Liz was glowing as usual and her voice was *easily* the best I have ever, ever heard it. So strong and steady. I got CHILLS at least once during every song... and ... lol... starting crying during _Red Light Fever_ of all things. She sang "too many people want too many things" and I felt a sharp pain in my heart... or maybe my stomach. Anyway it hurt. "How you gonna get through the year?" The tears just came. I'm only human. ;-) LOTS of quality banter with the crowd. She joked about the band during soundcheck and how by the time she gets on stage everyone is jamming and doing whatever they want... so why not do that during the show? Then she announced that they were going to do Rocky Mountain Way. I think my favorite part was when she was talking about how much she loves being home and she starting laughing really hard and joked, "I wish I could stay her the whole tour and play here over and over and over..." *motioning her finger like a reel* The only thing that annoyed me was closing the encore with H.W.C. Eh, what can ya do. Excellent show -- so glad I went! I still don't know why the Navy Pier show was cancelled. I wish I had a setlist. Maybe Brett does? <(:D KB ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 06 Aug 2004 02:06:37 +0000 From: "Katie Brown" Subject: [support-system] lyrics to RMW Artist: Joe Walsh Lyrics Song: Rocky Mountain Way Lyrics Spent the last year Rocky Mountain Way Couldn't get much higher Out to pasture Think it's safe to say Time to open fire And we don't need the ladies Crying 'cuz the storie's sad 'Cuz the Rocky Mountain Way Is better than the way we had Well he's tellin' us this And he's tellin' us that Changes it every day Say's it doesn't matter Bases are loaded and Casey's at bat Playin' it play by play Time to change the batter And we don't need the ladies Crying 'cuz the storie's sad, uh huh Rocky Moutain Way Is better than the way we had Hey, hey, hey, hey ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Aug 2004 22:11:34 -0400 From: "Brett Marlow" Subject: RE: [support-system] CWA Tour...
