Yes, I don't feel the same way about Liz anymore but it's not because she appeals to 8 year olds (thats a teensy little part of it). I just don't enjoy the music anymore- Shatter, Nashville, Don't Have Time all strke a nerve, they evoke something in me that her new music never will. I enjoy pop, I love to sing to along to songs on the radio on occasion and I do love to sing along to some of her new stuff, but I don't think it holds up to the quality of her older music. Yes, her EP was good stuff. But I think she should be releasing that quality music all the time. She obviously still has it and still writes it. I think Rock Me is embarrassing. My Favorite Underwear makes me cringe. I don't think we have to be so positive all the time - I think what makes this list special is the range of viewpoints that each of us express and have expressed throughout these years. I have been on this list for a long time- way back in the very beginning. I still read it, usually don't post, but still feel some connection. I will stick by her to see what she comes up with next. I still love to read articles and interviews and see what she's wearing in photos. I still find her to be smart, witty, clever, beautiful and a musician who came to me at the perfect time in my life. Now I've outgrown her newer stuff, but I know she'll come back around in my good graces again one of these days. I just think I'm allowed to share my opinion whether its positive or negetive. That is what this place is for. I love change, I believe change is necessary and important and I certainly don't long for the days of EIG. It's her career, she can do with it what she wants. But I don't have to love every minute of it. And who but fellow Liz fans are the people to bitch and moan to about Liz? Just think how she'll feel when she's 28 and has listened to all of Liz's other stuff and figured out what those other words really meant and how insightful Liz can be. it reminds me of when I was little (in the 70s) and my favorite radio song was "sky rockets in flight, after noon delight...oh oh oh..." my Mom would always get really mad at me when I sang it and change the station when it came on and I couldn't figure out why. I just loved the tune and singing it. It wasn't until about 15 years later that I figured out what upset her so much. Pretty funny now. ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V7 #135 ************************************
