I've also seen far too many posts along the lines of "somehow >the idea of me loving the same musician as an 8yr old pissed me >off" (and other such posts voicing disapproval, sadness and even anger >about where Liz's sound is headed, how her fan base has expanded to include >admittedly annoying bandwagon-type, trendy "fans"). I can understand the >frustration to some extent, but in the end, does any of that junk really matter? Yes, a lot of that "junk" does really matter -- to me anyway. I loved Liz in the EIG and WS days because she seemed to be a smart, sexy, and original artist. I was still on board with WCSE, but in hindsight I see it was just a part of her transformation from Indie Darling to Mainstream Sellout. With the release of LP, Liz seems to be simply pandering to focus groups and marketing trends. I hardly listen to the CD anymore. Sure she's still great to look at, but the music just doesn't hold up. The fact that 8-year olds enjoy her music doesn't bother me so much as the fact that there are parents out there who *let* their 8-year olds listen to music that simply isn't appropriate for kids that age. >I hope I don't offend anybody.
