A possible trend...are there >any happy debut albums out there? I see what you are saying, but I think it only holds true for the popular rock singer/songwriter genre. i can think of lots of debuts that were upbeat, by bands whose catalogs are generally upbeat (blondie, b-52s, gogos, bangles, dressy bessy) as well as non-genre artists (neko case, kate bush, jane siberry). but speaking of happy music, i am having trouble finding good summer albums this year. Last year was packed with great new releases that became the perfect soundtrack to my summer (new pornographers, saturday looks good to me, gravy train!!!!, fannypack, junior senior, hell even Liz Phair)...but this year it seems like no great summer albums have been released...im listening to the same stuff i listened to last year. the only one that comes to mind is the new juliana hatfield. i adore the new PJH, but it really isn't much of a summertime album... What are your fave summer albums from this year? steve ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V7 #133 ************************************
