A possible trend...are there > any happy debut albums out there? I have a whole shelf of albums in the "debut album by female singer-songwriter" category, and I can't think of any happy upbeat ones. However, this may just be a reflection of my taste in music - I enjoy listening to the angst-ridden stuff whereas my daughter's pop albums are generally upbeat, happy - and vapid Some people might also think that christian music is happy, although it would just make me gag and change channels. Britain is thankfully a no-go zone for overtly christian music (in fact it's becoming a no-go zone for religion period). Still, it's probably better than rap Paul PS, who said that making music that depresses teenagers is like shooting fish in a barrel? Bart Simpson, I think - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I was in fifth grade and spent my time making up dances to _holiday_ and that song _i know it_ .....which now that i think about it is pretty cynical. But the rest of the album was upbeat, at least to me as a lace-headband-wearing, neon-blue-mascara-wearing, training-bra-wearing fifth grader. i do think you are on to something with debut albums being downers... maybe the melodrama helps to attract others who feel lost? or to make a point? funny though that it could be used to try to stand out or be different, yet so many debut albums are like that, so its not different at all. OR... lol... maybe artists are just not happy yet since they haven't made it yet? so is this CWA tour going to be super lame? i am in... at least for Thursday night's show at the Skyline theatre on Navy Pier. I have two *extra tickets* to the House of Blues (Chicago) show on Wednesday night... if anyone needs them it was $69.40 for both. let me know.
